Hi Denise,Thank you for the compliments on the lodge! We work hard to ensure it's the cleanest and most welcoming place around. Part of doing that with a small team and nice rugs & furniture is requesting folks treat it like their own home and leave shoes at the door, as you mentioned. Quirky, we know!While the resort area does offer a self-service laundry, we do not have one on-site, mostly due to a lack of extra space and hookups for it. Our laundry service, which includes us washing, drying, and returning items to guests, is done in the same professional washers and dryers that our linens are cleaned in. We understand that this does not work for everyone and apologize for the inconvenience.Although we do ensure that we have accurate amenities (no air conditioning) on listing sites, we unfortunately can't control how Expedia and others display the listing, so sometimes it's not explicit, and guests may expect it. We do have box fans, which I had offered the others in your room (they said thanks but never took us up on it), which can help tremendously when used in addition to the ceiling fan to pull in colder nighttime air. Either way, we care greatly about our guests' comfort and wish you'd mentioned it during your 7-night stay so I could have done as much as I could to help.Now that heat pumps (air conditioners) are becoming more efficient and solar is becoming cheaper, we are looking at ways we can both increase guest comfort during the frequently occurring hot summer days and have minimal impact on the environment that people travel from hours away to experience in Carrabassett Valley. We hope to have those in place either late this summer or early next summer, and hope in the future you'd consider giving our small business a second chance!
