Firstly, this place is not easy to find and neither Hotels.com nor the owner provided any directions. Consequently I spent quite some time wandering up and down dark alleys hunting for something that looked like it might be “Flat 3”. I called the owner (a hotel in Ambleside) but they couldn’t apparently help.
Secondly, the flat is up two flights of stairs, the second of which contains a washing machine on the corner, which is very difficult to get past, especially with a suitcase.
The internal door to the apartment appears to be faulty and it took me several attempts to get it to shut.
The apartment itself is dirty, especially in the bathroom (which despite the description doesn’t contain a bath). The coffee table was sticky and the TV remote was covered with grime.
There are lots of decorative wall plates, many of which contain adult themes and would be wholly unsuitable to be viewed by children.
The TV in the bedroom didn’t work, and the one in the living area would not come on this morning.
There is a coffee maker and a kettle, an adequate selection of teas and coffees, but no tea spoons.
The kettle was switched on and hissing when I got there, it was empty and very hot to the touch. I unplugged it.
The second bedroom is on a mezzanine floor accessible by a loft ladder and overlooks the living area.
On the plus side, the bed was comfy for one, the shower was ok and nice to have access to a hairdryer. It was also pretty cheap, so perhaps you get what you pay for.
