Great location. The restaurant staff is incredible, and super helpful. The stay was odd. Had to request the room be cleaned / new towels after 3 days, and it wasn’t cleaned again after that. No one is ever available at the front desk. There is no breakfast as advertised online. The checkout time posted online is 12PM, but once you are there it becomes 11AM. The television in the room also did not work, and the staff from the restaurant was unable to figure out how to fix it. So no TV. Would still recommend a stay!

The hotel location was ideal, central to all activities we wanted to do and of course ideal location close to airport. Food was fantastic, atmosphere was good too, friendly staff.

I arrived at KEF airport a little before midnight. In the initial booming, it is listed that there is a complimentary one-way transfer from the airport to the hotel. I placed a call to the hotel upon arrival to be told that the only way for me to get there is by taxi. I had a whole other fiasco with the taxi piece of getting to the hotel, but that’s unrelated. On arrival, I was greeted by a lady who seemed less than thrilled that I was checking in. I get my information and go to my room to get in. The room was extremely hot and there was no way to open the window or door in the primary bedroom without breaking the cheap wood that was holding it together. There was a very small window in the bathroom that was able to be opened to allow air to circulate, but I was still very uncomfortable and woke up covered in sweat in the morning. Checkout was at 11am and my flight didn’t leave until 5pm. I asked the concierge (same lady I met the night prior at check-in) if it was possible to request a late checkout. She seemed extremely displeased and inpatient, and said no, that every room has to be cleaned before the housekeeper goes home for the day. Her demeanor and attitude were very poor and made me feel like a burden as a guest. I went to collect my things for checkout, and asked for an itemized receipt. Again, the lady appeared very irritated as if I asked her to move a mountain. Very poor customer service and experience.

This was our first stay at hotel Duus although we have eaten at Kafi Duus several times on previous stays in Iceland and the food has always been excellent. We were disappointed with the room (203). This was just off the lobby and was incredibly noisy - you could hear every conversation at reception as well as people passing through. We chose a room with a balcony but don't expect to get an opportunity to see any northern lights from your room - a car park just outside has floodlights that destroy the night sky. Good blackout curtains however do stop this entering the room. Bed was comfortable, room a decent size and it is convenient for the airport.

I was surprised to find out that the property is poorly maintained. The floor was so dirty, it was sticky. The sink was badly clogged and bathroom and shower have seen better days. The whole vibe was a little creepy seeing the overly cluttered “lobby” with an addition of a flickering light in the whole way, adding to the vibe. The hotel doesn’t even have a sign ‘hotel’ so we looked around for a bit. The bigger problem- the doors have passcodes, and after seeing your room’s passcode, you can figure out the passcode of every room there!!!!! This is insane. So, no. I don’t recommend staying there.
