Love Keelung and Love Yung Feng

Posted 28 Mar 2024 on Hotels
It's a budget hotel in a port city. If that's what you love then you'll know this is your place. We went to the night market every night and used the train every day to get to where we need to go in the entire Taipei metro. There is 24 hr pharmacy and convenience store right downstairs. Why pay Taipei rates when you can live in Keelung and watch people wash freshly caught fish on the sidewalk. I'm from a fishing port and this is my home.

The location is very strategic whether you're by bus, train or even cruise. Coffee machine available at lobby with everything you need as a tourist on toiletries. The only thing that, you gotta walk on staircase (no lift).

Booked the hotel for my colleagues and all of them complained about many problems with the hotel, including bad insulation: they could hear the room next door very clearly, no elevator, narrow staircase, old and run-down decor, noisy environment, tiny bathroom, etc. It makes me feel really bad to have booked this hotel for them. Besides the close proximity to night market there is nothing good they could say about this hotel.

Budget Hotel near to the Keelung Night Market

Posted 20 Jun 2018
Pros: Budget yet equipped with full basic amenities. Near to the Keelung Night Market. We were allowed to put our luggage at the hotel prior to check in.
Cons: It would be better if there is a lift in the hotel. Soundproofing of the room needs to be improved too.
Location: Super near (just opposite) to the main entrance of the Keelung Night Market which is full of local delicacies.
The hotel is a bit hidden in the alley but it's not hard to find. The reception counter is at the 1st floor. There is no lift in the hotel. Be prepared to climb the ladder, the highest floor is 6th floor. There are free washing machines and dryers for use at the 6th floor. However, the laundry place is very small and the path is very narrow. Guests who are staying at the 6th floor might feel noisy when the machines are operating. Overall we were satisfied with our stay there. The room is small (as what you can see in the photos) and there is no much place for opening up large luggage. There is a water dispenser (hot & cold) in every room. Basic room amenities such as shampoo, shower gel, toothbrush, toothpaste, comb, shaver, sandal, tv with a lot of channels, minibar, hair dryer, towel and etc. are provided. The bathroom comes with a bathtub. The air conditioner is adjustable (there are some reviews stated that the air conditioner is non adjustable). Do not expect much on the soundproofing of the room or it might disappoint you. The only drawbacks were that we requested a non-smoking double room but we found an ashtray in the room and the poor soundproofing. This hotel might not be a good choice for light sleepers.
