Calm oasis near the centre of historic Kalmar
Posted 12 Sep 2018
Pros: The hosts Amy and Henrik may be busy people but they make time for their guests and I had some nice chats and (thanks to Amy) got invited to a party.
Cons: Nothing occurs to me,.
Location: Already discussed above.
Jenny's Garden is a series of wooden houses of varying size in a little compound not far from the centre of Kalmar. I stayed for 4 nights in 2 of them. It was pointed out by the owners Amy and Henrik that the oldest one was several hundred years old.The place has character and some period furnishings which give it a tranquil air. That being said, it has modern amenities (excellent shower in both properties where I was), heating, TV, a wide array of cooking and cleaning utensils). A pretty garden with garden ornaments lies in the centre of the houses. The centre of Kalmar is minutes away in 1 direction, striking Kalmar castle just a little longer in another direction. Nearby are a range of restaurants, bars and pizzerias mainly frequented by locals in sevral of which I had tasty (and well-priced) meals. So Jenny's garden is a great place. long may it flourish!

Rustic comfort in the heart of a Swedish city
Posted 11 Sep 2018
Pros: The property was scrupulously clean. Nothing was lacking (fridge, cooker utensils, pots, coffeemaker all there)
Cons: This is a tough one. For restfulness and self-catering everything that would be needed was near at hand and in good condition.
Location: It is located in a quiet street near to which is the public library. kalmar castle and town centre just minutes away but in its own quiet space.
Jennygarten is a small self-catering place in a quiet spot in Kalmar but only minutes from the buzzing town centre and (in a different direction) the Renaissance pile of Kalmar castle.
I stayed for 4 nights, the first 3 in a small 2 story property and the 4th one which was on one floor. I enjoyed rest and comfort in both of them. the hosts Ami and Henrik were gregarious and always helpful. Ami managed to get me invited to a party on election night 9 September which ( as a journalist) i found very useful! restaurants and bars frequented by locals are nearby and when I dined out i was impressed by the quality of fare and reasonable prices. the best feature is undoubtedly the tranquility: each of the houses is made of wood and there is a nosense of calm even though main roads are not that far away. Prices are very fair and I would definitely return if the opportunity presented itself.

Helgkurs
Posted 24 Sep 2018 on HotelsEnkelt bra ställe för en tillfällig övernattning. Var i Kalmar för en helgkurs. Brukar övernatta på Jennygården när jag är där.
