Good place to spend a night or two
Posted 12 Nov 2017 on HotelsGood enough place to stay a night or two in Kalaw. For the price, it's a good value. Breakfast is okay, staff are quite nice, and the whole place has a cool, rustic feel to it. Bathroom could use a little updating but it's fine.

Feeling Home
Posted 14 May 2017 on HotelsRailroad Hotel is a new 30 room boutique hotel located near the train station of Kalaw Town . Stayed with them March 2017.
The owner of this hotel took over this property for less than 4 months I think . He is still at the mid of working to improve and make it a unique places for the traveller. Super helpful and easygoing. I booked one night just to rest before I head to my next destination. And ended up stayed with them for 5 nights . U can't complain much for paying this rate . This was my second trip to kalaw .I tried the other hotel close to the town with higher rates, u will not have a good sleep staying too close to the town . I highly recommend u to stay here if u are not those who expect too much for paying such price ;)

Ok hotel
Posted 15 Apr 2017Located next to the train station, you need to walk a bit to get to the center. Rooms themselves are ok but bathroom are really old, no toilet paper, no water for a while. Breakfast location is good on a terass, breakfast ok with fruit, rice& eggs.
Overpriced in my opinion

Good for a night or two.
Posted 16 Mar 2017 on HotelsDecent place for the price by myanmar standards. Basic single room with ensuite was fine for a couple of nights in Kalaw. Staff were friendly and helpful when needed and the breakfast was ok. I'd stay again.

Very good budget option in Kalaw
Posted 31 Oct 2016 on HotelsHaving stayed in plenty of places in Myanmar that charged a similar rate, I feel I can give an objective review. My room had a good view of the mountains, a comfy bed and a decent pillow. The breakfast was very good - a pancake, egg of toast, fruit and tea or coffee.
The staff were very friendly and helpful. Having arrived very early in the morning (04:00), I was able to check in early for the price of half a night, including the breakfast that morning; a fair deal.
Wi-Fi was lousy, but that's the case everywhere in Myanmar, and completely understandable. The shower's hot water was quite a low pressure, but not a real issue.
Obviously very close to the station and a short walk into the centre of town.
One of the better budget locations I have stayed in Myanmar - nothing genuinely negative to say. Would definitely stay at the Railroad Hotel again.

Gem in Kalaw
Posted 16 Aug 2016 on HotelsThis friendly family run hotel is within easy walking distance of Kalaw Railway station. Just go over the bridge, turn left at the tall brick building and look for the low sign. It is also easy to walk into town. Rooms, though basic are spacious and have a fridge and tea/ coffee facilities. Breakfast deck is cool and relaxing. Staff are delightful. Zin on reception is especially kind and practical.
