The rooms and venue was very nice but the FOOD and SERVICE was dismal! We were there with overseas visitors and I was embarrassed as a South African to see what these visitors had to eat. Not acceptable!

Disapointing stay

Pros: The scenery was lovely. The ranger on the game drive was very informative.
Cons: The level of service, cleanliness and food safety standards. Better choice of meals, chicken or beef stew are not appropriate choices for dinner when
Location: The game drive on site has only a few species of game but there is a big 5 game drive nearby.
Staff didn't know when booking with Expedia breakfast was included., this caused an issue that took a while to resolve.Room was large but tried and unclean.
The lunch was fine although just warm, the breakfast was cold even though we arrived just as service began.The dinner was overpriced considering what was on offer so we didn't eat

Well we welcome all constructive comments we do take all complaints extremely seriously. As soon as we received your complaints mentioned above we sent them onto our general manager on site to investigate.
We apologise that your breakfast was mis-communicated with the lodge itself and our reservations team have been disciplined for this miscommunication. We are glad our staff on site were able to assist where able. With regard to your comments on the pricing of the food, we are competitively priced with similar lodges in the area, it is important to note we are a country lodge and not a general restaurant, our food types and pricing will be different. We do however take your complaint about the food being cold very seriously. Our General Manager has discussed this with our staff and executive chef on site. We apologize as this is not our standard procedure. We are known for our great service and food and only ever have received good compliments about the food.
While we do understand your perception of our lodge is marred we do hope to welcome you back in the future to experience all that Zebra Country Lodge has to offer.

Nice stay

Pros: the overall location was nice- so close to airport yet still had Giraffe and other wildlife walking around the estate.
Cons: The buffet food at our first evening meal was cold, shame as the menu was lovely.
Location: Nearby Cullinan Diamond Mine and Cullian are well worth a visit.
After a shaky start with the room we were allocated , the hotel general manager , Herbert, changed the room with no problem. He was really helpful and was so kind as to also arrange for a 35th anniversary basket to be left for us in our room . We stayed at the mountain lodge and it was super- thank you Herbert you made our celebration really special.
