Wonderful experience

Posted 22 Aug 2016
Pros: Everything.
We had a very happy experience at the Rifugio and loved everything about it - beautiful location, delicious food, efficient, friendly, calm and professional staff, comfortable and quiet room, great area for walking, cycling, being outdoors. Highly recommended and we look forward to returning.

Nicely located hotel but no refreshment in the day

Posted 5 Aug 2016 on Hotels
A 4 night stay in this hotel in the mountain region. Pluses....stunning scenery and access to the mountains. Main negative was that there was no fridge in the room and essentially no refreshments of any sort available after breakfast and before the restaurant opened in the evening. It is a 15km round trip to the nearest bar or supermarket to get so much as a cold drink. This is pretty dire and the hotel needs to do something to either provide fridges in each room or have some way of buying cold drinks throughout the day. No tea or coffe making facilities either.....so don't plan on being in or around the hotel during the day.

Everything about this hotel is excellent for a relaxing and peaceful stay - the location, the environment, the views, the staff, the service, the food, and reasonable prices too. Highly recommended for cyclists.

remote but easily accessible and peaceful hotel

Posted 29 Aug 2014
Our stay here was the highlight of our Sardinian holiday. Peaceful, simple- not frilly but very clean and completely quiet ( no traffic noise) with a very reasonably priced restaurant that was used by locals and tourists in the evening. Fantastic walks , off the tourist rail but beaches ( not busy) within half an hour drive. Very helpful staff. would definitely go back-. The climate was cooler than by the coast which was a relief from the intense August heat. Great caves nearby - spectacular to visit. highly recommended.

Amazing views

Amazings views from the hotel. Definitely worth staying just for the drive up through the mountains! Hotel staff very helpful and couldn't do enough for us. Simple, comfortable rooms. Perfect for exploring the mountains and close enough to some lovely beaches for a day trip.

Going out of their way to please

Posted 7 Jan 2014
Pros: Very friendly, helpful, flexible staff for which nothing was too much trouble. Great location with views for mountain walks and near the coast as well
Cons: Very little.
Location: Hotel is near mountain walks near Ulissai, but also near coast & mountain biking. Art exhibition by local artist Marina Lai also near.
We arrived late but they were happy to come and find us and serve food until late. They were happy to serve gluten free food; breakfast was more than ample with fruit, yoghurt, ham and cheese etc. Lunch, dinner and wines all excellent value. Coast with better weather was only a short drive away and hotel happy to offer advice re distances, travelling times etc.

Lovely hotel in a fantastic natural setting

Posted 28 Sep 2012
Pros: Beautiful location, fantastic food, tranquility, views, friendly helpful staff,
Cons: none
Location: Wonderful natural environment all around, with fantastic walks, climbing, archaelogical sites, caves, pristine beaches, unspoiled mountain villiages
This is a truly unique hotel in a unique location. If you want astonishing views, pristine mountain air, complete peace and tranquility (the only sound to be heard is the bells of the goats in the hills and the buzzing of inummerable bees), fantastic food, a wonderful natural environment to explore then you will love this place. Rooms are simple but very clean and spacious with balconies and wndows which open on to the most beautiful views of the mountains, 'tachi' (fantastic limestone outcrops) and the sea (some distance away but there when the visibility is right). The hotel has a wood fired oven for producing the best pizzas I've ever eaten and a great menu of other freshly prepared and great quality local foods. Food and wine prices are really reasonable and the service is great. The hotel would score really well in terms of environmental impact. All construction materials are natural and solar panels provide much of the power and hot water. We loved this hotel and the location.
