Thank you for taking the time to tell us about your recent stay at the Best Western University Inn - Ithaca, NY. We are delighted to hear that you found our hotel to be comfortable and the staff to be great. Our staff takes great pride in providing superior service to every guest every time. Most of our guests love our location right next to Cornell University, it makes us very convenient for those guests visiting Cornell. Still, what is often overlooked is that we are right on a TCAT bus route, which allows guests without cars the ability to get to anywhere in Ithaca. Furthermore, our location is just minutes from the Ithaca Commons (downtown), several state parks that have beautiful waterfalls to explore, and the start NYS Finger Lake Wine Trail. Our guests are overjoyed with our complimentary breakfast buffet, which includes a make your own waffle station that has assorted toppings to add to your waffle, scrambled eggs or egg patties, breakfast meat (bacon or sausage, or Canadian bacon), assorted muffins, assorted bagels and breads, assorted cereals and oatmeal, assorted fresh fruits, and assorted flavored yogurts with toppings to add to yogurt. Plus, we serve coffee (both hot and iced), assorted herbal teas, three types of juices, hot chocolate, whole milk, 2% milk and almond milk. We hope you will stay with us again, soon.

What I didn't like: The room didn't have a chair. Lighting was poor (maybe because there was no desk, it is thought light doesn't matter). Toilet was lower than average.

Phone was broken and never fixed, AC unit made tons of noise coming on and off waking us up all night

However, both items that you listed in your review were issues were fixable and kind of fall under user error. First, the telephone in the room has two lines. When we went in to fix the only the Maintenance staff simple pushed the line one button and the phone worked. As for the A/C unit, the setting you had the unit set on was for the the fan to turn on and off when the temperature of the room got to warm or cold. Our guests’ satisfaction is important to us, and we will be using your comments to implement improvements to ensure we provide a better experience in the future for all our guests. I hope that you will consider staying with us again.

Expected... and appears worse... enough with best western, will change my preferences.

When you book here, there is no indication it’s a pet-friendly hotel pets unless you read the fine print. And that pets are allowed in ANY ROOM, even if you read the fine print. I am allergic to both cats and dogs, and felt awful during and after my stay. A pet-friendly hotel with carpets? There’s no way to rid a room like that of cat hair and dog dander. It feels extremely negligent not to make that clear to visitors. Also, a dog 2 doors down barked late at night and woke me early in the morning. The asst manager was less than interested in my commentary. The doors to the different sections of the hotel did not lock, so anyone could enter, which felt very unsafe. Then there was no coffee at breakfast. I finally found the woman in charge of the cafeteria, and she said she’d replace it. I asked how long she thought it would be, and she told me “as long as it takes me.” Her pants were falling down and as she walked away, I could see her butt crack, I kid you not. Particularly awful in food services. There was coffee available 12 mins later, after I had to get the manager to push her. You can’t make this stuff up. The hotel was really awful, mostly because of its hidden yes-to-pets policy (couldn’t that be reserved for specific rooms in a separate part of the hotel?) but also because the staff didn’t seem to care about it’s customers at all. Would never stay there again.
