"High marks for the area because the owners care, are very helpful, and try to anticipate your needs, along with suggesting a variety of options and opportunities to fill your time. Current city-wide street reconstruction gives a few challenges so don't wear your good shoes. Double room was a little cramped but had all the basics plus a modern shower. Kitchen and fridge available if needed, but don't miss the included breakfast. There are stairs but luggage assistance if needed."

"We are so happy we stayed at Akwaba Lodge. The grounds are well maintained and we had opportunity to walk around and explore. We loved and appreciated the home made meals, breakfast to get us going with fresh homemade bread and jams. Then dinners, with a couple options to choose from, were delicious. We felt like we were part of the family dining there. The room had all we needed and was cleaned daily. We enjoyed some time just sitting at the table outside our room or relaxing in the hammocks....

"Stayed in the one of the semi-detached bungalows. Very comfortable with an amazing view. Pool was lovely. Loads of Hummingbirds around so it warrants the name! The food in the restaurant was ok but not very memorable but there are 2 alternative options within walking distance - we only tried one which was much better. There's just one option for breakfast which did change every day. As there are no windows you and your neighbours can hear everything. Unfortunately we had a very loud couple next...

"INCREDIBLE AUTHENTIC JUNGLE EXPERIENCE BUT WITH ALL THE COMFORT!! I stayed for 2 nights at David’s place on my solo trip to bocas del toro and I can’t recommend it enough! The place was gorgeous on inside and the outside was just amazing, surrounded by jungle but 2 mins from the water too! Everything was clean, and the bed was SUPER comfortable!! The people who run the place care, love the area and place and everything was more than I could imagine. It's not a hotel high rise, big city, AC hotel, a million TV channels, don't seek that here.
