You were so confused about whether or not to go out to dinner after you arrived; I hope you didn't think we're a restaurant too. We do not offer food, Debbie. So glad you enjoyed the private tour and all the photos I took of you with my alpacas. What a pity you left a bad review after not expressing ANY dissatisfaction to my face. That's not fair, Debbie Martin.

We give Don an equally low rating as a guest: poor. Even the other guest who was staying here at the time said he was rude to her. I showed him around, helped him get settled (he was so confused) and expressed interest in his trip and his job at the golf outing. I was pleasant. He was not, so I figured he wanted to be left alone for the few hours he was here since he made it clear he didn't want to interact with any of us.

Montrose Farms Alpaca Ranch

Posted 26 Jul 2024 on Hotels
I thoroughly enjoyed my stay at the Montrose Farms Alpaca Ranch. It was a treat to stay in a comfortable and homey atmosphere rather than an antiseptic hotel room. As an animal lover, I felt instantly at ease on the working farm. This is my preferred stop for all future trips through Brownsburg.

Start good, end horrible

Posted 29 May 2024 on Hotels
Visit started well. Host was friendly and we discovered a common interest and chatted for a while. I left for a while, upon return met the other guests, and another good chat lasted a while. Host and guests turned in for the night, and me soon after. I had upstairs bedroom, the other room was a common sitting room with an open computer. My event the next day was threatened with rain so I got onto a weather site to see forecast. Other reviews note cats and dogs in the house, itself not a problem. There was a strong odor of kitty litter, at the time I paid no mind. But when I got into bed, I shortly discovered cat pee on the bed, and even on one of the pillows. It being late at night, I fetched a couch pillow to sleep on and a blanket to cover the cat pee on the bed. The next morning the host and other guests were chatting. The host greeted me angrily in front of the other guests asking if I used the computer. I replied about the weather site. She angrily said she was very upset and claimed I had broken the sound (I hadn't). I eventually asked for a word upstairs, and pointed out the cat pee. Her response was to ask why I hadn't said anything earlier. I asked for a full refund and said I'd leave a benign review but was cut off there, her saying that I was extorting her with reviews. At that point I wanted the visit over and gathered my things. But she still asked if it was my habit to go onto people's computers. Property was great. But alas, I'll never be back.

Vincent admittedly but unapologetically arrived before scheduled check-in time. I let him in anyway. Sadly, he had trouble following house rules of no shoes and no smoking. He proudly announced that I was the cheapest available accommodation. Not a great way to start a visit. He went to dinner with his family, who lived locally, returning after 10 pm. He appeared so inebriated, he couldn't get the door unlocked, so I had to let him in. He proceeded to put his hands all over the walls, apparently to help steady himself, while he chatted with other guests, who expressed uneasiness about his behavior. When they turned in, he was so drunk, he couldn't find the stairs, so I had to direct him.In the middle of the night, I woke up and saw lights on upstairs. When I went up to turn off my desk lamp, I noticed he had been on my PRIVATE computer in the room just outside his bedroom. He is mistaken in saying there was a public room outside his bedroom. I moved things back on my desk, closed the windows of the multiple sites he had visited and went to bed.In the morning, my other guests and I were chatting when he appeared. He joined the conversation for some time. Suddenly, he said, "What do I have to do to get a cup of coffee around here?" Breakfast was not included in his package, but, despite his rudeness, I made him a cup of coffee. As he continued his conversation, he argued with my guests about the weather and mentioned that he had just checked again on my computer. I asked if he'd been on it a second time after last night and informed him it is my work computer, not for guests to use. I ran upstairs to check on it. He had fiddled with things and there was no sound. I could see he had changed the volume, but he had done something else because I had no sound. It took me 10-12 minutes to sort it out, reboot, etc. to get the sound back.He continued his conversation for quite some time and then asked to speak to me. He was angry that I had "called him out" in front of the other guests, but I was shocked that he would use someone's computer without permission. That was a serious privacy violation. He could have checked weather on his phone --- which, btw, was plugged into my charging cord on my work desk. This guy had no boundaries. He said he was a computer programmer, but he wasn't sure what he did to the sound. Um, yeah. Then he complained about a smell. I asked why he hadn't notified me if there was a problem --- as I tell every guest. He mumbled something about not wanting to find another place that late at night. As I stripped the sheets, he asked what solutions I would have offered. Too late, don't you think? Then, he said if I gave him a full refund, he wouldn't leave bad feedback. I told him I don't respond to extortion. If the problem was so bad that he couldn't stay, that was one thing. But he spent the night, drank my coffee, enjoyed chatting leisurely with my guests for over an hour, and then wanted his money back. If you don't like your m

I had a great stay here in the last couple of days. She was a wonderful hostess and my room and bathroom were spotless and the rest of the home is beautiful as well. I didn't get to pet the Alpaca's because I was busy so make sure you do. The only suggestion I have is maybe upgrade the mattress. Other than that, totally 5 stars.

Perfect B&B but it smells like cat piss

Posted 8 Sep 2022 on Hotels
The place was really beautiful and the location was perfect as we were at the US Nationals, Lucas Oil Raceway working and spectating. The host was wonderful, everything was great except it smelled like cat piss. That ruined our stay there.

I'm sorry that you felt the need to lash out publicly after the fact rather than have the courtesy to speak to me about any issues while you were here, when I could have addressed them. In conversations with you & your companion, you both seemed happy here: not a word of displeasure. So this is surprising to read. I can assure you that the house smelled better than my refrigerator after you left your stinky leftovers in it for days (without asking). Your disregard for house rules meant that you ignored instructions to turn off the porch light and lock the door most days, including your unannounced middle-of-the-night departure that left me asleep in an unlocked house -- a blatant disregard for my safety as well as my house rules. Your disrespect for my property extended to your inability to park in the actual driveway instead of in my yard. But, hey, thanks for the review.

Sorry that James was unhappy with his stay. It's a shame that he didn't mention a thing while he was here, while some of this could have been addressed and potentially corrected. Instead, he chose to complain to everyone but me after the fact. If he had an issue, he should have brought it up to be resolved rather than trashing someone's business later. James exaggerated a bit; it was 80F, not 90F. He was furnished with two fans and had windows on three sides of the house, for a nice cross-breeze. Everyone else in the house was comfortable. Litter boxes in the next room had been cleaned and deoderized the very day he checked in. James was made aware that there are animals in the house before he arrived and once more after he arrived. He expressed no issue with that. He was also advised that this is a working farm, both before and after he arrived. He said he was fine with this, but apparently, he doesn't understand the full meaning of a working farm. If there are predators on or near the property, the Livestock Guardian Dogs on duty will do their job. We're willing to work with guests if they are unhappy, but if they don't let us know there's anything wrong, there's nothing we can do. That makes this retaliatory feedback.

The owner was rude and denied the fact that we had reserved 2 rooms. (She personally called me to offer the 2nd room at a discounted rate, but denied the conversation ever took place) A heated discussion took place, and she told us to leave her property. We both called the police, and then left to avoid any escalation. The police told us to contact Travelocity regarding a refund. The house REEKED of cat urine. Worst I have ever smelled. Disgusting. We never saw any alpacas, just multiple cats. And I am a cat lover, but I don’t want to stay where everything smells like a giant litter box!! Travelocity backed us up, by the way.

The facts: 1. I never called this woman. She booked one room online. 2. I never told her to leave my property. Her brother told her he thought they should go after she stood in my entryway shouting at me. It was their decision to go. I maintained a calm disposition and never raised my voice or said anything rude. The "heated discussion" was strictly on her end. 3. They never got any further than the entryway, so if they noticed an odor, I think it may have been them after a long car ride. My home was freshly mopped that day and spotless. 4. As they were leaving, she turned and said to me in the most hostile way, "You can take your alpacas and STICK THEM UP YOUR ASS!" 5. About half an hour later, they were still sitting in their car in my driveway. Eventually, she rang my doorbell and shoved her phone in my face, screaming that she wanted her money back. I could not see what was on the phone, but I quietly told her that she would have to go through the system and that I was going to close the door and call the police. That's where she got the idea to call them. 6. She asked the officer to get a refund from me. He laughed about it when he talked with me and said he told her she had to go through the system ... just as I had also told her. He asked me what I wanted to do --- if I wanted him to issue a no trespass warrant against her. I simply told him that since she had decided not to stay, it was time for her to leave the property. She didn't leave to avoid escalation. She tried to escalate it by coming to the door and yelling. The police TOLD her to leave the property and waited until she did so. 7. I immediately called Expedia; they backed me up. She did not qualify for a refund.

An Animal Lover's Delight

Posted 16 May 2019 on Hotels
This was one of the most unique stays of my life. The home and its grounds were lovely, the hostess charming, the setting quiet and peaceful, and the room worth way more that what I paid. Meeting the alpacas (and their sheepdog guardians) was of course a special treat, but the several cats and Walter the dog inside were great fun as well. I loved the entire experience.
