When you visit the coastal city of Incheon it is impossible to miss the imposing Incheon Bridge, as it crosses the Yellow Sea. See this long, snaking structure both during the day and after dark to witness two totally different sides to its character.

Incheon Bridge is the longest bridge in South Korea. It is, in fact, among the longest bridges anywhere in the world. The ultra-robust bridge spans water that is up to 66 feet (20 meters) deep in places. Discover the story of the bridge’s construction at the Incheon Bridge Memorial Hall, which also features an observatory that offers striking ocean and city views.

See the bridge during the day. Its impressive length and unusual winding shape draw the eye. Stay until the sun sets, however, and see it transform into something even more magical, as its many curves and bends are lit up by twinkling lights.

After taking plenty of photos in front of this instantly recognizable landmark, explore the many other tourist sites in the area. Incheon Bridge is located close to downtown Incheon, making it a convenient spot to incorporate into your itinerary.

Walk through the huge red arch that marks the entrance to nearby Chinatown. Spend an afternoon exploring its unique stores and tasting the many specialty foods available here, such as the famous jajangmyeon. This noodle dish is served in a thick black sauce and is the pride of Incheon’s Chinatown area.

Alternatively, head to Wolmido Island. This is a very popular weekend destination with many locals. Join them as you forget your worries at the amusement park, stroll in peaceful, manicured gardens and see charming examples of classic Korean architecture.

Cross Incheon Bridge by car or bus to reach Incheon International Airport, which is located on an island. As you travel, look out the window to see the stunning Yellow Sea stretching out beneath the bridge. If you are traveling in your own vehicle, note that there is a toll for crossing the bridge.
