We stayed in the grange which was a good 5 minute walk from the main hotel people walking on the road as no footpath. Our room was cold on arrival as heating had been turned down. The water was lukewarm which made the experience of showering and drying in the cold room uncomfortable. The mattress was very firm and the pillows not comfortable. We stayed for a murder mystery event at the hotel which wasn't very organised with one of our party being placed on a different table. We managed to sort this with another couple who had also been placed separately swapping our seats. We had to move our table to allow another table and chairs to be added as a party hadn't been added to the guest list. The room was very noisy and it was difficult to hear the actors. We did however enjoy the evening and the actors did their best to be heard often having to repeat their lines.

The gentleman on the night desk was very kind and considerate and went out of his way to accomodate my needs

The staff were very friendly and the buildings and grounds very well kept. The bat had a good selection and was comfortable.

I loved the peace and quiet and it felt really private and a real escape from the everyday x On the practical side, there were 2 of us in a Standard double room - very pleasant. However there was no toilet paper and not enough tea or milk for a hot drink very early in the morning before we needed to check out x Real coffee bags, a cafetiere or a Nespresso machine would have been more upmarket as I would never drink or offer my guests instant coffee x

Why do they ask for a fifty pound holding deposit comes out of you bank v quick and takes days to be refunded didn’t spend on any extras so should be refunded when you book out there and then a good way to make money on deposits while they have it mould smell in the room won’t be staying again

Excellent place to stay. Friendly staff, great breakfast. Only four stars as the room was a bit cold and no heat from the radiator until the morning. Great value and expect to stay there again.
