Look around one of the largest churches in England and listen to stories about the baptism of iconic abolitionist William Wilberforce.

Holy Trinity Church is a well-preserved medieval behemoth with an enormous nave and imposing façade. Its Gothic tower rises above the Hull skyline and offers wonderful views of the city center. Embark on a guided tour of the church for a comprehensive overview of its rich history and impressive architecture.

Relax in the spacious plaza in front of the church and take photos of its imposing façade. A white marble statue of 17th-century poet Andrew Marvell, who was a colleague of famous poet John Milton, stands tall in the square. Make your way around the outside of this vast church, inspecting the intricate features and elegant medieval brickwork as you go.

Admire the marvelous stained-glass windows that tell biblical stories and allow colorful rays of light to penetrate the church. Examine the medieval carvings, stonework and old graves of the vast nave. You can climb the narrow spiral set of steps to the tower for a spectacular vista of the surrounding city.

Take a morning break with scones and tea in the Café Trinity. Browse the items on sale in the shop, which displays a range of church-related stationery, artworks and other ecclesiastical items. Attend one of the choral concerts and classical recitals that make use of the church’s magnificent acoustics. Lectures and faith-based activities are also held in this structure.

The church was officially granted minster status in late 2016, changing its name to Hull Minster. The church is open to visitors Tuesday through Sunday from morning to afternoon. Enter the church for free and pay a fee for a guided tour and trip to the tower.

Holy Trinity Church stands between the River Hull and the Humber Dock Marina in the center of the city. Ride a bus to a stop beside the church or walk southeast for 15 minutes from the Hull railway station to get here. Visit nearby sights, including the Hull and East Riding Museum, the Streetlife Museum of Transport and The Deep, a spectacular aquarium.
