Breathtaking views, out in the middle of nowhere. I loved my stay and would definitely stay again in the future. Communication was great and the cabin was so comfy.

It's mostly clean, when we got there the cottage was cleaned up well except for the blinds. At some point someone mustve closed the blinds a bit lazily, as when we opened them, there were dozens of dead bugs stuck to the inside of the blinds. Additionally, they don't have a hairdryer on the property, which given the weather, wet hair can be incredibly uncomfortable.

We did not like to have to make our own beds upon arrival. Nor did we like the obligation to clean the property before leaving. Although there was a recycle bin, it could only take bottles and cans. The are a lot of bugs in the area late in the day so we do recommend some repellent if you plan spending time on the porch.

The pictures matched the description. The location was remote. The cottage was very basic. The bedding was not even on the beds when we arrived. It was a complete surprise to read the cleaning requirements once inside the cottage. There was no mention of this when booking. It was not just the basic, clean up after yourself and take the garbage out. The bathroom was expected to be scrubbed. The floors were expected to be swept and mopped. There is a fee if not cleaned when you leave.

This Cottage had wonderful views and was within 15 minutes of Höfn for dining and groceries. It had a decent kitchenette with everything needed for making meals. The beds were comfortable for us. We found most beds in Iceland comfortable. However, we are a family of 4 and it felt kind of cramped at times. When the pullout sofa was setup for sleeping there wasn't really room to access the whole dining table. What was off putting for us was the initial communication from the Myllulækur cottage manager with the self check in instructions. It basically started out that if we didn't clean up the cottage and leave it as we found it, we would be charged a 60 Euro cleaning fee. It felt a little aggressive and then upon inspection when we arrived at the cottage we found the kitchen area rather dirty, especially in the drawers with the pots and pans and utensils. We ended up leaving it better than we found it, but the whole experience turned us off and we felt that communication could have been much nicer. It was also clear to us that they really aren't hiring a professional cleaner to clean up between guest stays. The Cottage also really needs screens on the windows as there are some small biting flies that tend to come in. And there were dead mashed flies in the black out shades when you unrolled them. That said we enjoyed our stay to the area and enjoyed our quiet independence in the cottage.

Best thing about the place was the cleaning person helping us to access the property. Before that we received no communication about the property, which cabin we were in, or how to access. Thanks to help from the community, we were able to get in. Just a heads up that you are expected to make your own beds and clean (sweep, mop, vacuum, etc.) before you leave.
