Whether you are attending a conference or want to be entertained by music, theater or art, this waterfront building has it covered.

Treat yourself to a rich program of artistic endeavors at the Hof Cultural Center and Conference Hall. Take in musicals, concerts, children's shows, stand up performances, art exhibitions and much more. This circular building covered in Icelandic columnar basalt sits on the edge of a harbor. Before going inside, devote a few minutes to studying the building’s impressive form.

Reserve your seats for a variety of shows in the center's two auditoriums. The largest can hold approximately 500 people, while the other can accommodate around 200. Among the many different types of performances staged here, you could see plays and concerts by such cultural institutions as the Akureyri Theater Company and the North Iceland Symphony Orchestra.

Enjoy a pre- or post-performance meal and drinks in the center's two-level restaurant. From your table, gaze at the beautiful views across the water.

Watch a changing roster of visual art shows throughout the year in some of the building's open spaces. These include Naust, the hallway in front of the cultural center's main hall and Hamragil, a large area with high ceilings located near the restaurant.

Located in the center of Akureyri, the cultural hub is easy to get to. Come by taxi or use the town’s free bus service. Alternatively, drive and park for free on site.

For more information about the Hof's calendar of events, consult its official website. While you are in the town, get around to some of its other attractions. The collection includes a 1957 Piper Apache and a single-seat Benson gyrocopter from the 1960s.Visit Akureyri from September through to April for a good chance of seeing the northern lights in the town and surrounding areas.
