Out of everywhere we stayed during our two-week trip around Vietnam, Happy Tam Coc Ecolodge was hands down the best. The property is stunning—surrounded by towering limestone cliffs and lush greenery, it feels peaceful and secluded, yet still super close to everything. Bich Dong Pagoda is just a five-minute walk away, and most tourist spots are only a short scooter ride. What really made the stay special was Lily. She was so kind and helpful the entire time—genuinely one of the nicest hosts I’ve met. You can tell she truly cares about making sure guests have a great experience. The rooms were spotless and comfortable, and breakfast was made to order every morning (and really tasty!). We also rented a scooter directly from the ecolodge, which made exploring the area super easy. If you’re heading to Ninh Binh, I can’t recommend this place enough. It was the highlight stay of my whole trip.

Nice place for a basic 3 stars hotel even if the price is a little bite high but you pay the location. Room is confortable and spacious. Breakfast is just very basic. However you can enjoy the swimming pool for relaxing. The area around is nice with many restaurants and bars. You can easily visit around.

Bel hôtel , très bien situé mais la réceptionniste très peu aidante. Elle donnait l’impression de vouloir se débarrasser de nous. On a réservé avec elle un scooter qui est arrivé 30 minutes en retard et le bus (supposément de luxe!)…c’était vraiment n’importe quoi! Nous avons été habitué à beaucoup plus de services dans tous les autres hôtels que nous avons fait depuis 3 semaines au Vietnam.

Good hosts

This hotel is well situated in the town of Tam Coc. Easy access to everything. The staff do their best to make your stay comfortable. Breakfast isn’t the best we’ve had, but gets the job done. We were pleased that they kept our packs all day before the night bus and even offered us a shower that evening. Very kind.

The Nam Hoa in Tam Coc is only 200m from the Tam Coc boat cruise area. I've stayed here twice before and the staff is friendly although only one you man, Dik, speaks English. The breakfast has a wide variety of food from many different types of breads/rolls, eggs, fruit and juices. We had motorbike rides to Hang Mua and Ang Tran and slowly, after doing both areas, we drove through the rice fields to photograph the women working. That was excellent.

Very friendly and helpful staff. We arrived at the hotel before 10am and they gave us a room right away. We booked a triple room and it was very big, with many windows facing the back with a view of beautiful karst mountains. The room had everything we needed except for a safe, but we had no problem keeping our valuables with us. The bathroom door could not be locked but we are a family so just closing it was ok for us. Breakfast buffet was good with different types of bread and fruit, as well as one type of yoghurt and cheese. They also made crepe and fried eggs for us. They had free bikes for their guests and a simple map with direction and distance to various sights. They helped us book tourist bus tickets to Hanoi that picked us up at the hotel and dropped us off at Hanoi old quarter for US$5 per ticket. We did not compare ticket prices with other shops as we found $5 reasonable. We had a wonderful time at Tam Coc and Nam Hoa Hotel was one of the highlights of the trip.

Excellent location and views. Right in central Tam Coc with easy access to boats and many restaurants. The room was super comfortable, the breakfast spread was yummy. The staff was very kind and helpful, even encouraging me to borrow a bicycle (for free) for my trip to Bich Dong Pagoda. Was such a pleasant ride! Thank you so much Nam Hoa for the great service. I love Ninh Binh / Tam Coc and look forward to returning.

Great hotel with excellent owners

Good hotel in the centre of Tam Coc, owners and staff are very friendly and always want to help. They even went out their way to organise a taxi from Halong Bay to the hotel. Very reasonably priced. The only complaint was the bed was too hard.

Ett mycket trevligt ställe

Ett väldigt trevligt hotell med en mycket trevlig och hjälpsam ägarfamilj och personal. Fantastisk frukost i en fantastisk frukostmatsal högst upp i detta höga hus (än så länge det högsta huset i Tam Coc?). Trevliga rum och ett mycket prisvärt boende. Det finns en negativ sak att nämna. I min dusch fanns en elledning strax ovanför dushhuvudet som egentligen borde ha fått mig att inte alls bo eller duscha i ett sådant rum. Jag vet inte hur farligt det eventuellt var men dödsfall pga el i duschar på hotell i Asien är inte ovanligt och jag kanske var helt dum i huvudet som duschade trots det.

Excellent family room

Clean and spacious room for 4 guests. The staff was helpful and polite, helped us to book a bus back to Hanoi the following day, for a reasonable price. All guests can loan the bicycles for free, good for visiting bich dong pagoda. Tam Coc boat ride is very near the hotel, walking distance. Breakfast was pretty decent for the price, mainly pastry. Would definitely recommend this hotel.

clean hotel, good value

For the price, this was a really good deal. We had very clean rooms and the location was really close to places to eat and the tam coc boat dock. Free use of bikes and the staff were very friendly. Downsides were the outdated bathroom with weak water pressure and the hardness of the bed.

Older style but fabulous..all you need.

A terrific place to stay, very central to everything. The breakfast is the best we had so far in Vietnam. The fruit juices are amazing, actually real fresh juice. Locals are so friendly. Only slight downfall is the beds are a little hard but is ok.
