"We loved our stay at Ryokan Sansui. The view of the mountains around the hotel were amazing with tri-colored foliage. The staff were also very lovely and kind. The food was also delicious and more than I had expected. Communication wasn't too easy, but the message would get across. The best part was, of course, the onsen (hot spring) experience. They offer both public (gender-separated) hot springs and baths, as well as 4 private ones that don't need prior booking or extra fees. Getting there...

"We visited this hotel with our three kids this summer. The hotel and the experience was an incredible, authentic part of our trip to Japan. The owners and staff of the hotel were amazing! The outdoor Onsen bath was under construction and was not open during our stay, but the hosts kindly let us use a small outdoor family bath. The indoor baths were incredible! "This rustic ryokan was situated in the beautiful Japanese alps on the main road through the valley from Takayama. The staff provided authentic, beautiful & of course delicious Japanese breakfast and dinner. The accomadation was simple, spacious and spotless. The onset was rustic and could do with some renovation but it was charming. The ryokan was more than adequate for the price. The staff was adorable and very helpful. Definetively we would recommend it."
