The only reason that we wouldn't give Retiro one of the highest recommendations we have ever given any place we've ever stayed is that the charming gentlemen who run this amazing place are moving on from hosting guests. We consider ourselves lucky to have gotten in under the wire and wish them the best as they start the next chapter.

This bed and breakfast was wonderful; a peaceful and beautiful property close to Nelson and the Abel Tasman park. The hosts were exceptionally welcoming and served up fabulous breakfasts and conversations, while also offering the privacy to relax and rest on our long journey through New Zealand.

Victor and Robert made our stay fun and interesting with a tour of their vineyard and animals.
The setting is beautiful very rural.
Everymorning they joined us for a chat and it felt very nice to be so welcomed.
Would love to visit again

Charming setting with wonderful hosts. The combination of clean, comfortable and private accommodations surrounded by gardens, wine vineyard, treehouse, sheep, alpacas, chickens, walking trails and food made for a very special experience. One of our best stays of our two weeks in New Zealand. Highly recommend.

Pros: Outside of Nelson, very private, garden environment, and Robert the owner....
Cons: Shower head needs replacing, more water pressure, improve WIFI signal.
Tranquil, bucolic, and relaxing.... Robert is incredible and goes out of his way to make everything perfect.

Location: The location is quite stunning with Alpacas, ducks and hens roaming around the wonderful gardens

Excellent and accommodating host, quiet country environment with llamas, ducks
birds and a cat or two for company while enjoying the grounds.
An average 15 minute drive to town.
