Part of the Tux-Finkenberg ski area, this ski resort attracts skiers and snowboarders of all levels with its reliable year-round snow and diverse terrain.

Visit Austria’s only resort offering year-round skiing, the Hintertux Glacier Ski Resort. The resort features more than 37 miles (60 kilometers) of slopes, with pistes above 8,200 feet (2,500 meters). It is part of the larger Tux-Finkenberg ski area, which encompasses more than 24 individual pistes. Bring the kids to the family-friendly beginner areas or hone your skills on the challenging free-ride runs.

The Hintertux Glacier Ski Resort is one of the most diverse resorts in the Zillertal Valley. Warm up on the easy practice slopes before taking on Harakiri, the steepest slope in Austria, with an average gradient of 78 percent. 

From December to April, together with the neighboring ski destinations of Eggalm, Rastkogel, Finkenberg, Penken/Mayrhofen and Ahorn, Hintertux Glacier Ski Resort forms the Ski- & Gletscherwelt Zillertal 3000. Use the interconnected lift systems to access more than 2,000 acres (800 hectares) of skiable area. Ski or snowboard down slopes that range from 2,070 feet (630 meters) in altitude to a dramatic 10,660 feet (3,250 meters).

Don’t miss Betterpark, one of the highest freestyle ski areas in Austria. True to its motto of “best air time for everyone,” the park offers a wonderful mix of beginner and expert obstacles. Located at 10,498 feet (3,200 meters) above sea level, the park features excellent hips, kickers, rails and an enormous superpipe. 

Families can experience a gentle introduction to freestyle skiing and snowboarding at Hintertux Family Park, which is open from December to April. Practice your tricks and timing on the park’s well-groomed terrain.

One of the highest playgrounds in Europe, the Gletscherfloh Kid’s Park is another excellent spot for families. Spend a few hours enjoying the park’s snow tire carousel, baby lift and tubing run.

Lift passes provide access to the Hintertux Glacier Ski Resort as well as the other resorts in Finkenberg. To get here, take the train to Mayrhofen station and continue by public bus to Hintertux. The closest airports are in Innsbruck and Munich. Bring the family for an exciting winter getaway.
