"What really made our stay special is kindness and attentiveness of the staff. We had large suitcases, and though the train station was a five minute walk, the front desk manager noticed us struggle walking uphill and came to our rescue with a hotel van, loaded and unloaded our bags. "Staying at the hotel was a unique Japanese experience. Outdoor onsen was magical. Freezing out of the water, but lovely and warm in the water. There was a Japanese garden around the bath. Staff were friendly and had a good sense of humour. There was a free shuttle to the station and the snow monkey park. The hotel was only 8 minutes walk from the station. "When first arriving after a very well communicated pick up from the bus stop- the appearance was a bit deceiving. While thoughts of The Shining entered our heads it was quickly removed when our lovely host sat us down and talked with us our desires for the stay.
