We stayed in apartment- and ate at pub in Portinscale only a 15 minute walk into Keswick lovely walk. Apartment clean , everything you need . The building is Victorian, plenty of room in apartment set in lovely grounds. It is dated, and the hall entrance could do with repainting and new carpets to make it more inviting for guests. "Was left over chinese takeaway in fridge. Bed sheets were disgusting, lots of hairs and stains. Cups were unwashed. Decking was so slippy, green molud, nearly had a bad fall. Fold away chairs in main bedroom which seems to be from outside had spider nets. We came home after being there few hours and was meant to stay 4 nights. We were so disappointed, angry, deflated as saved up our hard earned cash for our 4 nights away and ended us coming home before we should have. "

"I was planning on camping a couple of nights near Keswick, weather not looking good for a late arrival so decided to stay at Derwentwater Hotel... so glad I did! - At check in I was greeted in a really professional manner, in the bar the staff were super friendly! Breakfast was self service which for hot food was no better than say a Premier Inn breakfast, which was disappointing for this type of hotel. My room was quite a distance from reception and I had to traverse intermediate stairs that might be an issue for less ambulant persons. "
