As a hockey parent who travels frequently for tournaments, I was looking for a quiet and comfortable stay between games. Candlewood Suites Burlington recently completed a very nice renovation, and overall, the hotel is in excellent condition—clean, modern, and well-maintained. The staff were friendly and accommodating, which I appreciated.
That said, my experience didn’t quite match my expectations. I booked Candlewood Suites separately from the main hockey block at the Holiday Inn, hoping for more privacy and a quieter space to get some work done. However, I was surprised to find that my room had no exterior window, opening instead to a busy atrium. This setup led to constant noise, with kids playing mini sticks throughout the day and into the . While this might be a great option for families looking to be in the middle of the action, it wasn’t ideal for my needs.
This type of room feels like the hotel equivalent of an interior cabin on a cruise ship—something that should be made very clear at booking. It’s a lower-category room experience compared to other options in the hotel. If I had known in advance, I would have booked elsewhere.
While the facilities are spotless and well-managed, I personally prefer Marriott properties and will likely choose differently in the future. If you’re traveling with young kids and want to be in a lively environment, this could be a great fit. But for those seeking a quieter stay, I’d recommend confirming your room location before booking.
