Spent a week there. Wifi was down all week, which was terrible for me who had planned to work online in evenings - this brings down my rating a lot.
It is an old building - I did see 2 silverfishes in my room (one in shower and one in bedroom, both on the floor) - a good idea to hold your luggage in such a manner you dont bring them with you home.
Otherwise very good - friendly serviceminded staff, interesting property nicely furnitured in old style, very good breakfast, nice free afternoon coffe/tea, central location but still calm and quiet.

Terrible check-in, nice hotel and great breakfast!
Posted 19 Aug 2024 on HotelsWhile the hotel has a great location and lovely breakfast, the check-in experience unfortunately left room for much improvement. Me and my partner were met by a young man in the reception with a bad attitude. I asked when arriving if they had better rooms available and he said yes, I then asked to be upgraded as this is part of the hotel program I'm part of, and free upgrades when larger rooms are available are one of the perks. He said he couldn't find any information about that and that I had to speak with his manager the next morning. I showed him the booking website with the info about upgrades and he now said there weren't any bigger rooms available and that I again had to speak with his manager in the morning. He wasn't apologetic about the situation or tried finding a solution but rather very defensive and unfriendly.
We were given a regular room and it turned out someone already was staying in that room, and when returning to reception to inform him, he first didn't believe us but when he went to check, he realised he had given us an already occupied room by someone else. After checking his system, he magically found a bigger room available for us which we could stay in (something that he had previously claimed was sold out).
To summarise, check-in was terrible but the rest of the stay was very nice and the people in the reception the following morning were lovely and very friendly and service-minded.

Absolutely perfect little hotel. Very unusual ( in a good way ) feels like the right kind of place for this wonderful little town. Staff is wonderful , breakfast almost unrivaled. Feels like one of the wonderfully old school bed and breakfast places you probably read about. Cheers !

Great location - Lovely building…Denis who is front of house is certainly one one of the best we’ve met - a great ambassador for Hotel Continental

The hotel location is great and the staff is also good. The only downside is that they don’t have a restaurant or kitchen

Front desk staff is amazing
Posted 4 Dec 2022 on HotelsI love the front desk staff. We stayed once before in 2020 and as soon as we walked in, we were greeted with "Welcome back", our keys were already prepared, and I was handed our bathrobes and slippers. We were even escorted to the elevator.

Common areas look as advertised, but the room was horrible. The bathroom was old with a worn linoleum floor and to a standard not even acceptable for a youth hostel.
Asked for another room or a refund, but got an arrogant answer that I already paid so it was “nothing they could do”… “they were fully booked. My friends room was old but acceptable.
Left for another hotel, and wouldn’t recommend anyone to stay there.
For the price I would have excepted not to need sandals in the shower…
