What an absolute picture perfect village and amazing hotel. The Hallstatt hideaway was incredible. It felt like fairytale. Highly recommend. One of the nicest spots I’ve ever stayed or seen.

I went into this with eyes wide open after reading all the reviews. Yes the parking is a long way away (you can’t drive in the town), and yes climbing the steep staircases with luggage is difficult, but the place itself is wonderful. Provided you arrive at the P1 parking lot before 7:00pm and call the number you are given at least 30 mins beforehand, and providing someone in your party is fit enough to carry your luggage several steep and narrow flights of stairs, I highly recommend the place.

We loved staying here!! Roshni was so kind and quick to reply to any questions we had. My husband loved the option of reserving the sauna. Please note, you will have to walk with your bags to reach this as it is not accessible by car and you will have to take your luggage up the stairs.

Best in Hallstatt
Posted 26 Aug 2024 on HotelsThe best you can get in Hallstatt! Staff was friendly, we arrived early and they helped bring our bags up the stairs. Room was huge with amazing views. Breakfast was a nice touch as well! Can’t wait to return

Worst travel experience I’ve ever encountered, & we are frequent travelers. First, poor communication & a disorganized arrival. You cannot park by the hotel, but at a designated lot with no Hallstatt Hideaway shuttle is available to you despite being told you are assigned a personal contact to assist with checkin. They don’t have their own shuttle, where the other hotels do. We waited at the designated lot for 1.5 hours, with random shuttles arriving that can only seat 6-8 people, but mind you there are 40 ppl waiting & more arriving with no order. From 3p-7p we attempted to call the property for assistance but no answer. After waiting 1.5 hours we were advised to “walk it.” It’s about 2 miles through cobblestone streets & up countless steps with no signage to indicate its location, direction to travel, or where the checkin is. We parked at 3pm, we didn’t arrive & check in to the hotel until after 7pm. Upon arrival to the property the owner & an employee were present. The owner was rude and condescending. She told us this was not her problem and she didn’t care since she’s already been paid & we should just be glad she allows ppl to stay here. She discontinued the conversation after mocking us & offering no support, apology or resolution. As other reviews state she takes no accountability and shifts blame. Her communication and reasoning are juvenile, especially attacking a 70 year old woman (my mother).

Hallstatt hideaway is situated one road above the waterline and difficult to get to with luggage. I think this would be true for most properties however if the property description had been clearer about this I would not have booked as our trip did not allow for me to pack light, this was just a short stop on my holiday. The view from the suite is good but the rest was a real let down. There is no one to help with luggage when you get there so that would be another thing I would have liked to be mentioned.
For the price point I would except better amenities, cleaning without having to ask for it (and then further prompting them to come in after I returned), fully stocked fridge, access to the sauna without extra payment as we had on the other lake front properties which actually had direct access to the water. Our particular superior lake view suite has no air conditioning due to the ‘preservation of the property’ which is fine but better cooling aids should be provided than a small Dyson. I have stayed in many preserved properties and had a great time. The service needs work. Eg. tell guest we have to be organized and book the shuttle, WhatsApp me before so I have your contact number, tell me how to get attention at the property
Hallstatt in my opinion is a day trip at best and not worth the effort to stay in the town. Most places are a massive tourist trap. Most places close early and the food options in the town are abysmal compared to other lakes in Austria.

Not worth the cost
Posted 15 Jul 2024 on HotelsThis property is indeed a hidden gem, great location, great view, however it is not worth the price they are charging. On arrival we were met by possibly the cleaner, he did not seem to know what he needed to tell us and had to call someone who then proceeded to talk to him for a considerable amount of time, when all we wanted to do was get to the room and rest after travelling. The room had remanence of the previous guests, including a soaking wet greasy sponge, hairs in the shower, full rubbish bin and luckily we did not get straight into the hot tub as about 3 hours after we arrived someone else came to say it had not yet been cleaned and she would come to do it later. I believe there was a private garden and sauna we could use but we were not told about this and no information in the room. Considering we had a hot tub we were only given two towels and on the second day we assumed these would be replenished but on returning from being out all day, nothing had been touched. We then received a WhatsApp message about 4pm asking when we wanted this to be done! Considerably late when they had all day to do this as we left at 7:30am. This place really does have the potential to be great but they need to get more organised, train their staff and consider the little things that make a big impact on a stay
