Lovely quiet little hotel. Owners/staff are super friendly and helpful, and the meals were phenomenal. They were able to prepare these Japanese meals as vegetarian which was great. The onsen on the lower level was great to come home to at the end of each day skiing.
It’s easy to get up to nearby Escal Plaza in a free shuttle, and from there you can get the valley shuttles to the other fields.
Please note if you’re staying here - this is at the more remote end of the valley and you don’t have a lot of shops etc around, so you will need to either go into town for supplies or bring them with you. Otherwise nothing but a positive experience staying here!

Hotel Sanmalte was an amazing place to stay for multiple reasons. The hospitality offered to us was world class, offering assistance above and beyond most hotels with the most lovely staff you could ask for. The rooms were good sized with a private bathroom inside and one in the hallway outside. They also offered breakfast each morning. The hotel is situated only a 5 min walk to Goryu slopes and a 1 min walk or less to local bars and cuisine which were amazing. We had an amazing time staying here and would recommend it to anyone, we hope to be back one day again soon! Oh, and the onsen inside and dry room made our trip

Amazing stay in Hakuba!
Posted 16 Feb 2019 on HotelsNothing bad to say at all, it's a family owned hotel and the entire family was so friendly my entire stay. They are willing to bend over backwards for you and made me feel like I was at home for my two week stay. The restaurant is also amazing, I had a shabu shabu dinner for my birthday and it was fantastic! I'll definitely be staying here again!

The San Malte is fantastic!
Posted 31 Jan 2018 on HotelsThe San Malte is fantastic. There is a free resort shuttle that picks up right out front, or you can enjoy the 5 minute walk to the chairlift. The staff was wonderful, always willing to help! The accommodations were simple, but perfect for the traveler looking to feel as though they were in Japan.

Great little Inn

Pros: Still very 70s Japanese style. Great breakfast each morning (Japanese Western blend) just let them know the day before. Very accommodating owner
Cons: Would be good if onsen could be open all day not just after 5pm
Location: Great little spot 10 min walk to bottom of Goryu ski lift, and lots of little restaurants all around. Bus is close to go into main Hakuba (Happone).
Was there mid-Jan for skiing, was a bit skeptical as Maps was showing the location was in the middle of a field in the lowlands, but the actual location was quite convenient, and im really glad we stayed there .

Ski trip to Hakuba
Posted 1 Apr 2015 on HotelsGreat room for the price. Very close to Hakuba Goryu Ski resort. Went skiing with my two kids - we all stayed comfortably. Staff was very kind and accommodating.

Great stay!
Posted 31 Jan 2015 on HotelsHotel was difficult to find due to the address being wrong on hotels. You should search using the phone number: +81 0261-75-2133 in google.
There are 5 parking spots out front and then another 5-10 across the street. Parking is not an additional price.
We rang the bell at the front counter and the owner popped right out to help us. He provided us with our room key, information and three maps for the area. He spoke english well.
Our room had 4 twin beds; 2 made up for my husband and myself. We had a bathroom and shower in the room, but I think there may be some rooms that use communal bathrooms.
The room also had a small couch, coffee table, two stools, tv, safe and closet with plenty of room for our snowboarding coats.
The hotel is modest and could use some updating, but we were quite comfortable. That is not a priority in our travels.
Upon check-in, we failed to mention we were vegetarians and assumed the breakfast was buffet style. Later on the first day, we realized they had set out an entire breakfast for us and we had not shown. We felt awful and discussed the fact that we were vegetarian with the owner. Later, he brought us fresh apples from his farm. The next two mornings, he had out vegetarian friendly foods with fresh tofu, vegetables and fruit all from his farm!
There is a dry room in the basement with some paid lockers and open shelves. It was not very warm, so we kept our gloves and coat in our room overnight, but the boots downstairs.
