Venture into this district to discover modern museums, historic churches, recreational activities for the whole family and much more.

One of the most recognizable views of Stralsund is that of Stralsund Harbour. Head east of Stralsund’s Old Town to find this quaint part of town with lots to see and do. Whether you want to view the beautiful architecture or learn about the history of the town’s sailors, you will have plenty of choice here.

Start your visit to Stralsund Harbour with a walk along the coast. Stroll past iconic buildings such as the Lotsenhaus Stralsund. This house built in 1901 is a two-level brick dwelling that is used as an office for the port. Its red roof and red brick make it stand out against the blue sky and water, so you can’t miss it.

Continue walking around Stralsund Harbour to find the Ozeaneum Stralsund. This aquarium contrasts with the other buildings in the area due to its stark white, modern architecture. Inside, you will find exhibits on underwater life in the Baltic Sea, as well as live animals including sharks, penguins and fish.

For a unique way of exploring the harbor, hop on one of the cruises that take you out into the water and around the coast of the nearby island. Choose your cruise based on your interests and the sailing times, which you can check online beforehand. Alternately, stay on land and meander through the many art galleries dotted around the area.

Come hungry to the harbor to sample the delights of the restaurants set along the shore. Try some traditional German food or simply sit back with a drink in your hand and enjoy the sounds of the boats.

Reach Stralsund Harbour on foot from Stralsund Train Station in less than 30 minutes or take a taxi or local bus from the train station. Metered parking garages are available at either end of the harbor. With the number of attractions along and near the harbor, consider spending an entire day here.
