unique haven of tranquility

Pros: Small, relaxing and friendly. So close to Katelios village and wonderful beaches.
Cons: Nothing really if you like informality and a rural idyl.
Location: Great choice of affordable retaurants and tavernas in Katelios. Wonderful beaches nearby at Kaminia/Moulda Bay, Korini and Lourdes. Shops in Skala.
We thourghly enjoyed our 4 night stay. comfortable room, excellent breakfasts and contentious staff.

Fantastic boutique style hotel.
Posted 4 Jul 2018Fantastic boutique style hotel. Friendly owner and staff who could not do enough for you.
The rooms were a good size, very well decorated and maintained, importantly were very clean.
Very short walk to the town. (2 min)
Don’t look any further and just book this hotel. I doubt you will be disappointed.

Very quiet and peaceful hotel
Posted 5 Sep 2017Lovely location just out of town but easy to walk in for every thing. Star attraction was decent length of pool, which only we seemed to use. Loved all the 'upcycled' furniture painted white. V comfortable hard mattress. Only negative was the hard pillows, I always think of Michael Caine in hotels, who always travels with his own pillows, not an option with cabin luggage.
I would return. Frances (London).

A great location and place to stay in Kefalonia.
Posted 26 May 2014OliveMare is the perfect location for accommodation in Katelios village, it is in a quiet location that is a short walk, 5 mins, to the beach and tavernas.
With just 5 double rooms the hotel is small and friendly, however you are very well looked after by Marilena, Maria and the team. Nothing is too much trouble.
The pool area is great for sun-bathing with comfortable beds for everyone, no need to rush to reserve your beds! On many days we had the entire pool area to ourselves. Each room has its own terrace which also contains nice sunbeds and chairs if you want a bit of shade from the afternoon sun.
Nearby beaches are very nice although the best one is at Kaminia and this needs a car, scooter or boat to access. When we went we had about 1.5 miles of perfect sandy beach, warm shallow sea and about 10 people to share it with.
Breakfast is served on the terrace overlooking the pool and garden, Plenty of choice with home made bread and jams available along with cereal, yogurt, and other home cooked specialties from Maria. Eggs and other items were also available on request.
Lunch and drinks are available throughout the day. These are freshly prepared by Maria and always very tasty.
Based on our tours of the island, Katelios is one of the best "Village" locations we saw on the island. Other favorites were Asos and Fiskardo in the north.
If you are looking for a quite and restful holiday you will be challenged to beat a stay at OliveMare

Fantastic and chic hotel
Posted 18 Sep 2013 on HotelsWe cannot speak highly enough of this gorgeous hotel and its fantastic staff and owner.
The hotel is simplistic chic at its finest. Beautifully decorated with a great pool and garden.
The hotel only has 5 rooms which means that most of the time you feel like you have it to yourself.
Each room has its own private terrace with sun loungers and table and chairs. Otherwise you can relax by the pool or on the dining terrace outside which is shaded.
The staff, especially Maria (chef and welcome party) and Marilena (the owner and host) make you feel both at home and spoilt throughout your stay.
The food on site is fantastic and everything is homemade (from the Halva to the bread and jams). The wine is sourced from a local producer and is fantastic.
We would recommend hiring a car as the local beach is not great. However, Marilena gave us such a list of places to visit and to eat on the island that we will have to come back next year to visit the rest! The hotel is about 40 min drive from airport. In a taxi it costs 45 euros each way so it is more cost effective to hire a car.
Hopefully next year the hotel will also start running cooking courses. I want to return for that!
I would not recommend for families with children (does not seem to be much to do for kids as compared to other hotels) but for an adult only holiday, this place is absolutely perfect.
We will returning ASAP!

Perfect break away
Posted 4 Jun 2013Olivemare is the most beautiful hotel we have stayed it. It was perfect, only 5 rooms and excellent location. Far away enough to be private and secluded, yet close enough in the car to Skala and other places where you may want to eat. Marilena is incredible, offering insights into the best places to eat and the most beautiful beaches.
