House high up in the town
Posted 21 Sep 2017
Pros: The view from the balcony was stunning, though unfortunately it was difficult to sit out there because of its size and there was only one chair.
Cons: Communication from the owner needs to be much better. Other than that the blurb on the website needs to be updated and accurate.
Location: There are a lot of steps up to the property at the top of the town. The volcano and the stunning Hocholaki beach are must-sees. Pali is very pleasant.
Contrary to what the website states, there was no air conditioning, wi-fi or patio in this property. A washer/dryer is advertised but it only spin dries and the clothes airer on the very narrow balcony was so rusty it was unusable. The cold water tap in the kitchen didn't work and the fridge was rusty and not well maintained. The inside front door and outside bathroom door handles both came off if you pulled a bit too hard. There was also a very musty smell from the utility room downstairs and we were unable to open the windows as all the neighbourhood cats would jump in (fine if you're a cat lover, not so good if you have an allergy to pet fur! The 'transfer' (which we didn't pay for) was in the back of a truck with legs dangling up a winding road for about 2.5 kms. The person doing the transfer forgot to pick us up for our return journey and it was only after we started walking down to the port that a kind-hearted lorry driver picked us up and got us to the ferry on time, otherwise I don't think we would have made it! All attempts to contact the property owner were unsuccessful.
