As we checked in the receptionist asked us to pay €31 to cover any damage cost. He then stated this is the hotel policy and we would be refunded upon check in out of the hotel. As we checked out the hotel, the owner only refunded us back €20. When questioned the hotel owner he stated the €11 was for the local tax. Although €11 is not going to hurt my bank balance, it’s the basic principle, when booking the hotel via Expedia, the taxes are included. Also the rooms do not have tea and coffee facilities (coffee sachets, sugar, tea) and the parking is very limited. Also the buffet breakfast is very basic. The shower facility in the rooms are very tinny and the shower curtain is not adequate.

Dear Savas,We are really surprised by the unreal facts that you describe in your review, as all of them are far away from reality, giving the feeling that this is a revenge review.First of all during the online reservation process, you were clearly informed about policies and charges for your reservation. In case that you might be confused, here is the short text (copied and pasted):Important information: FeesYou'll be asked to pay the following charges at the property:A tax is imposed by the city and collected at the property. This tax is adjusted seasonally and might not apply all year round. Other exemptions or reductions may apply. For more details, please contact the property using the information on the reservation confirmation received after booking.A tax is imposed by the city: From 1 March - 31 October, EUR 1.50 per accommodation per nightA damage deposit of EUR 50 will be collected before check-in.So you paid only 3 euros at the property during check in, as expected and that refers to Climate Resilience Tax - Summer 1.50 per room, per night, (it's proved by the official invoice that was issued). Other taxes like City Tax, VAT (Value Added Tax) 13.0% per stay and VAT on City Tax, were included in the price.Bear in mind that due to the short stay we claimed only 30 euros (instead of 50 euro) and this amount was returned to you in cash (signed by you as well in the receipt) and as it's proved as well, by security cameras on the reception, it was a bank note of 20 euro and one of 10 euro. We are working 15 years with your agency and nobody blames us for money "tricks", but facts prove that even your try was an unsuccessful one. Last but not least, Sofia Hotel is just a 2 star hotel. So far we are offering prices for 2 star services and our guests claim that we are above the average for 2 star hotels. Our long breakfast buffet offers many more options than we are obliged by the law (trying to satisfy customers from different nations with our local food and tastes). We never promote, promise or mention in our room descriptions any coffee machines in our rooms, so don't accuse us of something that you haven't paid for.On the other hand, we have a premium coffee machine in our breakfast buffet by DOUWE EGBERTS, offering all coffee options (espresso, cappuccino, etc) free of charge, but you didn't mention anything (although you tasted all coffee options during your very short stay).

more than 48 hours without water in the accommodation the owner is rude and yells at everyone no reason

Dear Nebojsa,Even the area were without water for 3 days due to Municipality responsibility, our venue was just only for 2 hours without water.It’s obvious that it’s a revenge review, as you booked a triple room (3 pax) and you came finally 4 pax (…) pushing us under inappropriate and arrogant was for extra bed free of charge to save money. Working with Expedia groups for over 15 years our review scores (first time we received a score like yours) proves that our services and the cleanliness is more than average.Thank you again for your time to review our hotel, even this way.

I highly recommend this hotel. The staff is friendly and helpful. The room is cleaned on a daily basis and no issue remains unresolved.

Little hidden treasure in Nikiana

This place is amazing. I feel like we could vacation like a local here. We were greeted by Chris at the start and everyone was so helpful the entire time. The room is very private but had an amazing view from the balcony. We could hang clothes to dry. The breakfast was good. There are 2 great restaurants within 3 min walk. Beach and markets are 3 min drive in town of Nikiana. The advantage to this place is that it is not in the hustle and bustle of Lefkada town but has great stuff near it. Parking space was also very nice and convenient. We would definitely stay here again.

Great location, friendly and accommodating staff. Minutes to Nidri & Lefkada Town with sea view rooms. Great accommodations from check-in to check-out.
