Far from luxury.
Posted 28 Jul 2024 on HotelsUpon arrival and check in it was awkward as it appeared we were unexpected and we had to do the majority of the work at check in. The porter was awkward with the bags and struggled so I had to take them off him. He then hung awkwardly around for an undeserved tip. The gym was a treadmill and cross trainer that didn't work. The jacuzzi was empty during the whole stay. The pool looked more like a pond on arrival. Green in color and not very clear. The ladies who worked were very helpful and courteous unlike the men who were a little creepy, constantly on your shoulder in an apparent attempt for constant tips when no service was offered. We stayed for a week and were put in a substandard room with only a shower head in a bath (with no taps or plug) as means of washing (not luxury as the name states) whereas other guests (non English) who stayed for only 1 or 2 nights appeared to get favouritism with room views and facilities. It was more apparent when more English guests arrived and placed in similar rooms to us. A sense of discrimination (borderlining casual rasicm) coming to the fore. The location of the hotel I would give 5 out of 5 for but everything else does not score well except for the service from the female staff only. The hotel states luxury but that is so far from the truth. On entry it does look luxurious but the only luxury after entry are the prices.

Dear Jason,First of all, we would like to thank you for your kind remarks about our staff and especially the birthday surprise that was kindly offered from the Front desk staff. Concerning the check in, we always check the reservations beforehand at least 7 days and then 3 days and finally one day prior to arrival of each guest. So apparently, no one is unexpected, except for last minute bookings or walk in guest. So, this is the mandatory procedure followed, by taking the passport and filling in the registration form and the reservation voucher number. As Hoteliers, we accept any kind of remarks concerning our premises, though we cannot accept the fact that we promote a sense of discrimination ( border lining casual racism) coming to the fore as it was mentioned. All our staff is trained not to promote and accept any kind of racism. All our clients are treated equally and that’s why although your reservation was for a standard category, was complimentary upgraded to the next category. Porterage fee is not mandatory and this is something that our staff knows well. The windy weather was the reason that sometimes the pool seems dirty, even though it is cleaned daily after 8pm by using the most up to date smart pool equipment such as "robots". Firstly, the staff was amazing! The front desk attendant was very helpful every night and helped me get my bag from the airport and even offered drive me in her personal car. The bartender was also very nice. He always smiled and said hi. I didn't like the lack of cleanliness. The shower was too small to even bend down in and the handle broke when I used it. The shower head was rusted and the water wouldn't go to warm even after I changed the extra handles on the wall. The breakfast was okay but there were a few flies near it which wasn't appetizing. The staff was what made the stay special. They were very kind, helpful with activity advice, and great to talk to.
