"The person working there is on his own. The outside needs cleaning and painting desperately. There's dirt, dead leaves, garbage and cigarette butts lying around outside. The place would be so much better with a good clean. The inside wasn't overly clean either; not as bad as the outside. Also there was no one there when we arrived and it took 2 hours for someone to show up. The bed wasn't made properly; no top sheet or pillow cases. They were given when requested. "The Butterfly Farm is a peaceful oasis in the middle of the cattle farms of the area. Green and serene, with lots of privacy. Karen is a wonderful hostess, she has lots of great information on things to see in the area and she is ready with anything you might possibly need. If you are looking for a retreat away from the tourist traffic of the Great Ocean Road while still being connected to good Wi-Fi and all the amenities, this is the place to stay."

"Receptionist recommended a national park to see koalas… did not disappoint (but you need to go at sunset and be patient while you look for them in the trees)."

"Not as nice as the price and description led us to believe. Breakfast was okay, good croissant cut otherwise a bit ordinary. The room was fresh and clean but lacked in storage space so if one was staying more than a day, there was no drawer space for one to unpack. Poor water pressure in the shower. Hosts are very pleasant/amenable! Would not stay there again for the price. "

"A friendly welcome from the owners on arrival was the start of a magical stay. The views were completely breathtaking and the cottage was quaint with so many homely touches. The entire property was spotless and the wildlife made me want to live here. I kept thinking I was so lucky to be staying here instead of in the centre of chaos in town. "I really did not know what to expect here but was VERY pleasantly surprised. The hotel itself is set on the Torquay golf course and has tremendous long views all the way to the ocean. The hotel is very contemporary and efficient. The rooms are quite spacious and the bath areas are nice. A great location for us to kick off our drive along the Great Ocean Road. Breakfast and Dinner service were very good and the Gym and pool areas were far above what would be expected for a hotel this size. ...
