Nice people shame about the place
Posted 21 Apr 2023 on HotelsNice enough staff. The pub looked like a 1970’s Benidorm recreation of a British pub with a ceiling full of beer mats. Food was ok but a little overpriced for pub grub. The outside area was filthy. The doors to the outbuildings that house the rooms were ramshackle. The rooms themselves looked like they were last decorated about 30 years ago. The TV was a 20 year old mini tv with free view that didn’t hold the signal. Neither tv or kettle had a PAT testing sticker. The bathroom was grubby especially the floor tiles. The shower was an old electric one again it looked as though installed in the nineties. Now I cannot apportion any blame to nature but the crows in the nearby rookery were cawing from 5AM. The furniture was ancient and there is a significant difference between shabby chic and shabby. Pity it was the latter. Nice people working there but the whole place needs a total revamp in my opinion. Definitely not worth the money £85 bed breakfast and evening meal inc one drink.

Brilliant 1 night stay at the Geese and Fountain. The staff couldn't have been more accommodating and friendly, the evening food was absolutely brilliant and the breakfast, well, what an absolute dream. Will definitely stay again if in the area.

DISAPPOINTING STAY
Posted 30 Sep 2022 on Hotelsaccommodation was disappointing ie stair carpet was dirty as was the room carpet. Bathroom floor needed refurbishing and only a clothes rail in the room, really!. Generally the whole property needs a make over

Swartz?”¥# room was not the best size to be called a double room! I am 6’3” tall and wide set, simply, the bed was lovely and comfy, tidy and clean room with coffee/tea making facilities BUT squeezed into a space waaaay to small. I was bashing my elbows on the wall all night and my wife was bashing her knees on the radiator all night!!! The shower/toilet/bathroom was really small, clean n tidy but too small. Put a mirror in the bedroom for the ladies to dry n do their hair, as there any a long enough lead or socket for the dryer in the ‘small’ bathroom. The TV had intermittent signal and was essentially unwatchable! All very negative but for the price…..!? To end on good points
The village, locals and dog walk opposite the pub were lovely. The pub was pleasant n comfortable with good beer, cider and other drink choices. Staff really lovely, with a brilliant bearded warrior chef - amazing breakfasts and evening meals. Really tasty, well prepared, freshly made with locally sought and importantly, home made produce.
The back area down to a decking platform area needs to be tidied, cleaned up, it would make a lovely area to overlook the geese farming area and general space to enjoy the beautiful countryside and pub/village facilities.
Don’t rule out this opportunity to stay here, just make sure it’s not in the ‘Fountain Swowtzski’!?! room. Room name spelling is wrong, sorry but I know the pub will understand. Worth a visit just ask for a different room!!?

The room was tired ! The tv in the room didn't work properly.
There was only one working light in the bathroom which made it dark.
