This hotel is very upkept beginning with the lobby. It smells when you walk in. When i walked in my room, the room smelled so dirty. There were stains all over the furniture and all surfaces. There were stains on the mirror headboard (very gross). There was only one towel in the bathroom. There were roach carcasses on the floor. There was not one surface that was clean. I immediately went to the front desk and got my refund, and booked a room at the Holiday Inn Express across the street. This hotel is absolutely NOT what it's advertised to be.

As I told you when you were checking in a couple of hours before check-in time, that the room had not been inspected but you assured me that was okay, that you just really needed in your room early. If I are a member of the staff had the chance to inspect it as is proper procedure, we would have saw that this room was actually out of service. I did give you a full refund, when you came down, as this is not the experience, we strive to give here at the Sonesta. I offered to send you to another room, and you would have seen that this isn't the norm for this property. Unfortunately, you declined, so I did what I thought was right by giving you a refund.

Roos had multiple lights burned out. Room was small. Bathroom was tiny no grab bar on shower. Towel rack was off the wall and screw holes not plastered.

The staff were wonderful and the overall comfort of the hotel was good. The room is comfortable and newly updated from a decor standpoint. The major issue was the bathroom. The sink was broken, the shower had some mold spots and the overall construction / maintenance is rough. For the price - it’s was worth it. If you are expecting 5 star for 60 bucks, you’re crazy.

I am so sorry that you didn't have the experience you deserve. We are on a scheduled maintenance with Orkin Pest Control but I have called them to come out because of this issue. Unfortunately, this is Texas and these things are looking for water.

The staff was friendly and welcoming, the hotel is conveniently located right in Gonzales and the price was fair. On the downside, we had a non-working refrigerator, saw a few critters: a gecko, some crickets, and a few silverfish. The breakfast was very limited, there was no working juice or water. Our room was relatively comfortable otherwise, but it smelled slightly like mold and mildew and in the shower some vinyl wall boards were nailed in and held in place by wood trim and lots of silicon caulk. The overall maintenance of our room was poor, but my son's family was in a room that smelled cleaner, had working appliances, had a chair to sit in, and seemed to be in better repair.

My stay was fine---the staff was great and the accommodation was relatively clean---but once nighttime hit bugs small and large started crawling out from behind the bed where there was a tiny gap. I ended up making it work and just sleeping at the wrong end of the bed for the night, but definitely not the most comfortable experience.
