We had a great stay. The proprietor, Ian, was very friendly and knowledgeable about the area and its history. If you are looking for an authentic, local experience, this is your place.

Amazing views!

Posted 30 May 2024 on Hotels
Our room had the most amazing view of the fjord! Very clean and spacious. Only negative would be that there were 3 very comfortable leather chairs in the room for only 2 people so 1 chair was actually in the way and should not be there. We had access to a full kitchen and places to sit outside and admire the views. Host was very friendly.

Thank you for an entertaining and positive review ! It is always fun to see that we are doing something that our guests appreciate. The Canadian couple who have that room now for some days are so pleased that he can lay a towel on the "superflous" chair and stretch out his legs as he stares in wonder at what Mother nature has to offer in Geiranger today. Stay happy and we wish you a safe and positive journey.

Good stay.

The host was very engaging and welcoming. The stairs up to our room in this quaint Norwegian home were steep for our suitcases. The room did not seem level, we needed to sleep away from the wall to have our heads above our feet. The views are spectacular and the sound of the waterfall soothing. It was nice to be able to make coffee in the morning before leaving. There is not a hair dryer and the home is significantly above the town and restaurants.

Good afternoon LindaThank you for an amusing review. The hair dryer was in the cupboard together with the extrapillows, the walls are just about vertical, the floor is level and the water in the shower cabinet drains away nicely thank you. I recall that you were disappointed that you could not get into the local brewery but our Norwegian breweries are always closed on public holidays. As Lunheim lies 270 metres above sea level we do have a fantastic view of the fjord.

Guest house above Geiranger with stunning views

Posted 5 Aug 2023 on Hotels
The views from this guest house are spectacular. Our host, Ian, was attentive, informative, and helpful in every way. The room was very comfortable and well-furnished. There was some confusion in finding the guest house--I forgot to write down the phone number to contact our host--but staff at the nearby hotel helped us find our host. The guest house is located 3 km from Geiranger up a very steep hillside, so with our heavy luggage, it was necessary to have transportation, since we didn't have a car. Some of the statements on the Hotels.com website about this property are misleading. There is no spa, and there is no restaurant. The restaurant is located in the nearby hotel, and our host has an arrangement with this hotel to serve breakfasts there. The guest house has a well-equipped kitchen, and guests are encouraged to prepare their own meals. There is no microwave oven, so preparing meals required more effort than we were inclined to do. Again, I want to emphasize that the charm of the guest house, the location and views, and Ian, the very accommodating host, made this a truly special place to stay.

Exceptionally clean and well equipped, fabulous unsurpassed views of Geiranger fjord and town from large kitchen windows. Host was very communicative regarding road conditions in and around the area including up to date closures of impassable roads. Personal experience, beats large impersonal hotel any day!

Thank you for your comments. We are pleased that you enjoyed your stay in GeirangerWe love to travel by road, rail, and by ship in Norway and in the south of Europe. It is important, sometimes crucial to my travel experience, to have up to date info about regional transport strikes ( Italy !!) , rockfalls and closed roads (Norway) so that I can modify my travel plan accordingly.Welcome back next time you visit Norway
