Lovely hotel in a historic house with impeccable service. It has been recently refurbished and under new owners who have done a magnificent job. We stayed in the Dumas suite which has a balcony where you can watch birds and monkeys with a cup of morning tea. The serene gardens and swimming pool are a delight. Do not miss the Arrack Tasting menu dinner which was unforgettable. Staying here gives you a short walk to Galle Fort and a chance to stay in a beautiful house with gardens so the best of both worlds. Well done to all the team.

Absolutely breathtaking Villa
Posted 13 Feb 2024 on HotelsMy wife and I had the most amazing experience in this hotel. From the staff, the food, the cocktails, the amenities, everything was splendid. They really do go the extra mile to make your trip wonderful. Kudos to Ronald and team for making our stay great. We stayed at the Taprobane Suite which had an outdoor bathtub which we sadly didnt use as much as we wish we did. The Gallean cocktail by their bartender with an infused arrack was my daily poison. The sri lankan breakfast followed by a dip in the pool was a great way to start the day. Overall, its 10/10

Absolutely wonderful stay at a blissfully relaxing property ideally located for Galle Fort and beyond…service was impeccable and breakfast absolutely delicious. Thank you and we’d love to come again…

This is the most beautiful old house originally owned by a Scottish spice merchant. The furniture is attractive, the gardens and setting gorgeous and the food delicious. There are loads of books you can borrow.You wish it was your own house! The staff are so helpful and kind. Our son told us to visit as he had been there last summer. We are so glad we followed his advice. This was quite the best place we stayed in in Sri Lanka and we hope we can go back for longer next time.

We stayed here on the recommendation of a friend and it went beyond expectations! The staff were just wonderful - you felt so so cared for and about, to ensure you had the best possible time. I really couldn't recommend Rukman and his team from both The Sun House and The Dutch House highly enough!

The Sun House is a special place to stay. It's like staying at a private villa in colonial times. So spacious and relaxing. The food is excellent & the staff happy to do whatever you ask as well as offering what you might like.

Lovely colonial boutique hotel
Posted 26 Mar 2018 on HotelsOld colonial home that is deceiving when you arrive at the gate up a residential road. Beautiful interior, secluded, excellent service and very good food. Beautiful small pool in private garden. Dinner on the verandah was a highlight. 10-15 mins walk to the fort and the old town. Steep on price for the facilities on offer compared with other places we have stayed so far on our trip. But you will not regret staying there.

Super hotel in great location
Posted 17 Feb 2018 on HotelsFantastic spot with great staff. We very much enjoyed the cinnamon suite and the super breakfasts. We felt the hotel was starting to need just a Little Love around the edges to bring it back to its rightful place as one of he best places to stay in galle. It’s in a great location - away from the hustle and bustle of the fort but yet just a very short and cheap tuk tuk ride away. Beach also accessible with v short tuk tuk. Fantastic interiors and lots of wonderful books
