Charming Hotel
Posted 17 Feb 2020 on HotelsLoved the ambience. Well maintained. Rooms are very compact but this is to be expected from the provenance of the building and its hillside location. Management very helpful.

Quirky But Nice
Posted 14 Aug 2017 on HotelsThis was our second visit to LadyHill, the first time was in 2003. It's a quirky little hotel up a hill away from the town, so it's a bit of a walk to civilisation, but you can easily get a Tuk Tuk. The restaurant is on the 4th floor and is open air with just a roof in case of rain. The view is the best in Galle and there were loads of dragonfly's there. There is no lift so you need to be able to negotiate the stairs. My only real complaint with this hotel is the storage space in the rooms. There isn't one drawer and only one small half sized wardrobe with 4 coat hangers which appeared to have been permanently attached to the rail. So don't plan on unpacking your suitcase here. There's just no way.

Too far and too little upkeep
Posted 10 Jan 2016 on HotelsThe hotel is a little far from Galle Fort, but its not too bad and the amazing view the hotel provides makes up for that. The hotel itself has a very nice setting and looks very promising- serene lobby with ponds, colonial architecture, infinity pool and a view. However, the room we stayed in just didn't jive with the original setting. The room has a contemporary vibe, but thats destroyed by the lack of cleanliness and maintenance. The room was pretty dirty with scuff marks everywhere. Broken door locks and ants didn't help the situation. The bathroom smelled like mold, which wasn't great either.
Service was good- they addressed some of the issues. There was an issue too because we booked via hotels.com and it said breakfast was supposed to be included, but it wasn't and we had to pay extra. If I was going back to Galle I wouldn't stay here. I'd go a little closer to the Fort.
