The place to stay in Galle

The Bartizan is a very lowly hotel and we enjoyed our stay. The view over the ocean from our private balcony was amazing. The room well appointed and spacious.

I wish we could have stayed for longer

The hotel was absolutely beautiful! It managed to balance a classic traditional feel with a clean modern aesthetic. The staff were also fantastic! Every request we had, they went above and beyond. They really made our stay exceptional!

Great place and location. Just many miscomms with the staff, asked for a late check out which they agreed then was asked to pay for it. But the staff do go above and beyond in every other way

Terrible Experience with Staff and Owner

This hotel left a terrible taste in my partner and I’d mouths. My partner acquired covid and they refused to give us a refund which is extremely distasteful no matter which way you look at it. The staff lacked empathy for our situation and kept telling us “don’t worry” when we were scrambling trying to figure out what to do. From what I could see their staff had no experience dealing with someone who is ill, and could not provide straight answers to what we should do. The owner is apparently a doctor, therefore you’d expect an above and beyond understanding of our circumstance but sadly we got the complete opposite. I rarely review places negatively and choose to give them the benefit of the doubt, but this hotel is a sad disgrace for a ‘hospitable’ place. On another note they are currently doing renovations which were very loud, cleanliness was not up to par and the property has definitely dated from the pictures.

As we have already communicated to you via email, that we have already processed a partial refund of your upgrade fee. Just to refresh your memory, you asked to change you dates of stay with us last minute before you arrived at the hotel and we promptly obliged without any change fees, you also stayed with us until 8pm of the day you left us. Our staff worked tirelessly for hours to help find a quarantine center for you and even spoke to your insurance company to make sure your next stay will be processed smoothly all the while offering you consoling words like "don't worry" and even gave a complimentary dinner before you left. It is truly unfortunate that efforts on our part to make you and your partner feel comfortable was not evident to you and we apologize for that. We sincerely hope your partner feels better and you are able to return home soon. Thank you.

The Bartizan was the most beautiful place to stay. The hotel is immaculately decorated, and fits right in with historical Galle. I was here for my last few days in Sri Lanka and the hotel kindly arranged my PCR test and were super helpful with the current covid situation. Nothing was ever too much trouble. Thank you for a wonderful stay and all the help.
