The resort is based in a very lovely place, near the beach. Pools and beaches are very clean.
If you like to travel around the island, the place is great as a base.
Rooms are reflected in the price, but kept nice and tidy by the staff.
there are two things to consider before you go there:
- food is very boring, always the same, uninspiring, choice is very limited and all stinks of cooking oil - you will as well after each visit to the dining area.
- reception team is very unpleasant and full of themselves. They provide a very little support and often look upset when approached. They also don't explain all rules and requirement clearly. We personally had been treated very badly by them (including manager) in front of other guests and when it turned up it was their fault, no apologies were given at all. Don't expect good service there. The experience we had affected our stay really badly, we won't stay there again.

Perfect beach holiday
Posted 1 Oct 2023 on HotelsVery impressed with the hotel and apartments, the complex was spread over a large area and very well designed, it felt open and there were lots of different areas with sun loungers, overlooking the sea in shade or sun, overlooking the pool either the busy main pool or the more quiet pool, which meant even though the hotel was fully booked you could still find quiet places. Every where was clean and tidy and the food was good. It would not take much too bring it up to a 5 star hotel.
Unfortunately we did not initially get the sea view room that we booked, but the manager and staff made up for the error by sending a bottle of champagne and upgrading to gold wristband plus free safe, after 2 days we were moved to a perfect full sea view room, which was very much appreciated.

I like the view and Africa bar.
Most of staff very friendly couple a bit rude.(one Tall dark hair guy in reception)
I did not get my deposit back for towel because i did not have the receipt!!!
Food hygiene and quality of food did not match a 4 star hotel.

Great but not perfect
Posted 13 Jul 2023 on HotelsOnly thick curtains, not netted ones as 5yrs ago been taken down. Can't have natural light and privacy on ground floor with public footpath immediately outside. Had to have aircon 24/7 as security risk to open door at night

We were advised to get wi-fi covered full hotel area if we pay for it, however it was not available in our room No. 420

Solid 3-star experience: Clean, comfortable, adequate, and great value for money.
We stayed at SBH Monica Beach for 5 nights at the beginning of Jan. And for the price, we would have absolutely no hesitation returning to this hotel - in fact we have already discussed doing so at the end of '23.
We're giving our overall experience 3 stars, based upon the following:
Room Accomodation
We stayed in (what we believe was) an Apartment room. The bed was incredibly comfortable. The water pressure and temperature of the shower was great. The bathroom was clean and well presented, with a stong Hair Dryer.
The main room was equipped with a small electric hotplate, that was not needed during our stay. And a fridge that did the job.
The room was spacious, more than enough for two adults. The TV was big, with a decent amount of German and Polish channels to choose from, mostly.
Areas to improve: The bed only came with two pillows, there were no extra pillows stored in the wardrobe. The fridge was empty, some bottles of water would have been nice.
Having walked around the entire complex, we would definitely book a sea-front / sea view room next time

We chose the SBH Monica Beach Hotel for its proximity to the ION Windsurf club located on the beach. The resort is supposedly a 4* all-inclusive but found out quickly that this is very misleading. Comparing this to my experience at a 3* / 4* / 5* all-inclusive resort in the Caribbean, this is closer to 3* with a huge asterisks on the all-inclusive component.
Biggest surprise was that the use of the safe in the room is an additional cost. This should complementary, just like the hotel key card that locks the door and safeguards your room / belongings.
Wifi is only available in the lobby with very weak reception, and none in the rooms or throughout the property (so we ended up roaming the entire duration of the trip instead).
Most of the activities that they advertise (mini-put, tennis, basketball, etc) are an additional cost to rent per use.
There is no late-night snack bar so you better fill up at dinner or prepare a plate as they close promptly at dinner - I recall the last few minutes of dinner service when I walked to fill up my glass of water before leaving and the beverage section was roped off with the waiter pointing to his watch as explanation as to why I cannot refill my drink. There is no water fountain available on the property so bring a water bottle and keep it full while the bar remains open. After service closes, you will have to wait until the next day.
Cockroaches everywhere at night.

We would have liked you to leave with a better impression of our services and we regret not having been able to guarantee you a perfect vacation. We are disappointed that you found the atmosphere spoiled due to the additional costs for the Wi-Fi in the room, the safe or the drinks in the room. However, we would like to explain that these additional costs exist precisely because we try to accommodate all special requests. Our all inclusive service refers only to gastronomic level, and we try to reduce costs as much as possible so that guests can choose and complete their vacation according to their needs, giving them the opportunity to book a basic vacation and tailor their stay to their preferences. We regret that you were not informed in advance of any additional costs, but this information is, of course, published on our home page as well as in all travel catalogues, so that guests will not be surprised upon their arrival. On the same time, we would also like to mention that refilling water bottles at our self-service machines is strictly forbidden due to hygiene. Due to the favourable warm climate, cockroaches are a common species in the Canary Islands. Although we do our utmost to keep our hotel spotlessly clean, it sometimes can be difficult to entirely get rid of insects in an open building structure like our hotel has. We regularly fumigate all areas in order to prevent them from appearing. We thank you for your comments which will of course be taken into consideration to improve and being able to offer our guests remarkable experiences.We look forward to have the opportunity of hosting you back on a renewed opportunity to gain your confidence in our resort.Best regards,The management

Great hotel on the beach

Very impressed by the New Years Eve dinner.The beach could be more incorporated in to the hotel. The deck chairs extra charge and long walk to the hotel bar to get the drinks. Also extra charge to use safe in the room. The Wi-Fi only free in the public areas.
But the weather was beautiful and we had a great time.
