Parts of the Hotel are in disrepair. We had holes in our bathroom where previous mirror was located. Plater in some of the areas have fallen down, exposing parts of the wall. We found dirty socks in our room. Perhaps they are just short staffed? There is historical significance to the hotel, and I enjoyed the historical content and experience the Hotel provided. Perhaps if it were a little better cared for I could give it a high recommendation. As it stands I give it a mediocre review with a tilt towards average for the history buffs in the crowd.

True to 1800s history and architecture, the Gunter Hotel is easily a place that will transport you back in time. Visited during the cold season and the hotel and especially the room remained toasty.

The hotel and room were dated. The tv in my room didn't work during my stay. Because I arrived after the front desk went home, I had to use a lock box, and the numbers on the lock box were difficult to read at night with a flash light.

Nice place to stay off the GAP bike trail though quite an uphill hike to get there. Food in restaurant was good.
