Extraordinary spa/lodge in a natural setting

This is an astounding combination of upscale hotel with a full-service, multifaceted series of spa facilities. The hotel is efficiently run, very well-appointed in an understated way with spacious rooms and all amenities. Most, if not all, rooms have balconies. The bathrooms are unusually large for a European hotel. The main restaurant serves outstanding meals and truly abundant, esthetically prepared, and highly varied breakfast and dinner buffets that exceed any that I have seen in my travels around the world. The immediately surrounding towns are tiny and appear to be short on services so I don't recommend planning to spend time touring them except possibly for selected guesthouse restaurants and/or wine taverns in the region. The draw is the hotel, its marvelous spa facilities, and its location on the edge of a large Austrian national park comprised of vast grassy and semi-agricultural flatlands and wetlands with abundant wildlife and bird life. Note that the Neusidlersee (lake) is near. The hotel offers Jeep "safaris" in English into the national park (recommended). This is an extraordinary place to relax and unwind on many levels. It is expensive, however, so compare prices. I found Hotels.com to have offered the most competitive price, definitely less expensive than purchasing directly through the hotel website. A free shuttle is available by arrangement to/from the Frauenkirchen train station (10 min, nearby town) with direct rail service to Vienna (~60 min).

good choice for a few days relaxing at spa

Everything was perfect except that the check-in was only later, at 16. If you come from 500-600 km and arrive an hour earlier, you do not really like to sit in the lobby and even to go to the spa - you have access to - and then go back to the car to take your luggage. Winter's especially unpleasant. Maybe summer is different. I do not think that there was no free room, the hotel did not seem too full. It's true that was worth the wait ... Saunas, relaxation areas, fitness room are super. Water from the hotel terme a bit cold. Also, was not bad to be a bit of ambient music in saunas, it's more relaxing. Other spa offers this. Perfect food, morning and evening buffet. Superb rooms. I managed to evacuate a bite from cheese box :) but that was only once. I think we will return, because overall it was good.
