We checked in at 10 pm, they gave us the keys and we went into the room which stank of old age and unpleasant perfume, the smell was terrible! Very thin blanket! The pillows were already yellow from old age! The towels didn't smell sour! I don't understand why there is such a rating

This is not a boutique hotel. It's a decommissioned chain hotel with new, very bare-bones furniture. I need one thing from a hotel: a comfortable bed. The beds were passable but the pillows were worn out polyester fill that was hardened and unsleepable. We were provided newer ones on the second night. Bath towels were small and scratchy- well past when they should have been replaced. The room was clean, the staff was nice, but the minimum necessary for a comfortable stay was not being done. I didn't expect too much for a room at this rate, but even those expectations failed to be met. Get it together Redwood Riverwalk.
