This fully interactive, educational museum is an obvious choice for a fun-filled family day out in Fort Worth’s picturesque cultural district.

The Fort Worth Museum of Science and History offers a colorful, fun and educational day out, especially for those visiting with children. Come here to learn about everything from the cattle raisers of the past to the way energy works. Afterward, visit other family-friendly attractions found in the leafy Fort Worth Cultural District.

Built in 2009, the museum is one of the more modern ones when compared with some of the other museums in the area. The Fort Worth Cultural District is known for the many impressive examples of 20th-century architecture among its museums. Look at the sprawling red form of the Fort Worth Museum of Science and History and you will immediately get the sense that this is far more current. Note the unusual geometric shapes employed by the renowned Legorreta architectural firm, which designed the building.

Step inside the building to discover a wealth of exhibits covering an enormous number of different subjects across science and history. Take your kids to DinoLabs and DinoDig for a hands-on lesson on dinosaurs, discover the ways of the past at the Cattle Raisers Museum or take a seat in the IMAX theater to see a movie on a massive screen. These are just a few of the offerings. Other features include the planetarium, the Children’s Museum and an ever-changing selection of temporary exhibits.

You will find an excellent choice of other kid-pleasing attractions nearby too. See a wide variety of different species at the Fort Worth Zoo or listen to stories of inspiring American women at the National Cowgirl Museum and Hall of Fame. The pretty Fort Worth Botanic Gardens are also worth stopping by.

The Fort Worth Museum of Science and History is open daily. Be aware that there is an admission fee. Special exhibitions, events and movies may have extra costs attached.
