Horseback rides, nature walks, water sports and wildlife spotting are just some of the activities on offer at this adventure sports resort situated on a bend of the Formoso River.

The Formoso River Ecological Park (Parque Ecológico Rio Formoso) is a lakeside recreation resort with many family-friendly activities to try. Enjoy land- and water-based adventures amid the magnificent tropical surroundings of the Formoso River. Whether you want to relax or take part in thrill-seeking pursuits, Formoso River Ecological Park is a great year-round attraction.

A major highlight of the park is its vast lake of calm and crystal-clear water. Cool off from the hot sun with an invigorating swim and jump into the water from the diving board. Watch as fish come within touching distance as you paddle along the lake shore. Spot more colorful species of exotic fish on guided snorkeling and scuba-diving excursions.

Cruise around the lake at a leisurely pace on paddleboats and kayaks. Try stand-up paddleboarding. Ride down small rapids on the Formoso River on an inflatable raft.

Sign up for a guided tour on horseback for the chance to appreciate the beauty of the park’s encompassing natural landscape. Follow a trail that winds through a thick riparian woodland. Look for birds flying above the trees and perched on the branches. Other land-based activities include mountain biking and slacklining. Travel above the lake on a zip-line course.

Take a break from the recreational endeavors and enjoy lunch at the park’s restaurant. Take your pick from a buffet of fruits, vegetables and traditional Brazilian food including bocadinhos, which are fried snacks with either sweet or savory fillings such as cheese.

Find the park located about 5 miles (8 kilometers) south east from Bonito’s town center. An easy way to get here is to arrange a package daytrip to the park with one of the town’s tour operators. Alternatively, rent a bike from the town center and cycle here.

Formoso River Ecological Park is open year-round and there’s an admission fee. There are different fees, which include varying amounts of activities. Security lockers are available to rent at an additional cost. Ask at Bonito’s tour operators or check the park’s official website for further information.
