A little off the beaten path, the quiet Le Madaleno was exactly what we needed for our first stay in the south of France. The hosts were friendly and extremely welcoming people - even putting up with my abysmal attempts at speaking French. The pool was clean and inviting - much appreciated in the midst of a heat wave. The breakfast food and pizza dinner were delicious and beautifully presented.

The great reason to stay was the restaurant, which is no longer open because the chef quit, no doubt because the owners are not nice. A course in hospitality, perhaps in Switzerland, would help. We paid for an upgrade room which was very small and essentially undecorated.

Out of town hotel

Posted 25 Sep 2016 on Hotels
The room was small, clean and quiet with good air-conditioning. It had a small verandah with a pleasant outlook but no safe, tea/coffee tray or refrigerator. It overlooked the swimming pool and had a distant view of trees and hills. We were very disappointed in the evening meal. It was more was expensive and less appealing than the other meals we have eaten in southern France. The hotel is at the crossroads of two major roads, no other restaurants or shops in walking distance. It is several miles from Fonteville, Maussane -les-Alpilles and Le Paradou.

Dear Anonymous, Thank you for sharing your experience at Ripaille. We are sorry you did not enjoy your stay. Quality of our restaurant, we are very surprised at your comment that looks nothing at all others. About our situation in the country, it is well described on all sites on which we are listed. Regards, The Kieffer family.

Friendly family run hotel in Provence

Posted 25 Jun 2015
Pros: Location and family atmosphere.
Location: The hotel is brilliantly situated only 15 minutes’ drive to Arles, 10 minutes to Les Baux de Provence and Carrières de Lumières, & Camargue NP
This family run hotel is very well situated for visiting the Arles and Avignon areas. Our superior room overlooking the pool had an extremely comfortable king size bed, air conditioning, small TV and a balcony with table and chairs. The evening meals were delicious with a choice of three seasonal locally sourced starters and main courses and breakfast was substantial. We would recommend that if you want a genuine 'taste of Provence' stay at Hotel la Ripaille.
