Folkets Park is a six-acre (2.4-hectare) recreational park. Come to watch live music at an open-air concert stage and picnic on shaded lawns. There are fairground rides, animal exhibits and a wading pool for families.
The park was opened in 1891 but by the early 1990s the area was considered a slum. It underwent extensive renovations over the following decades to become one of the most popular parks in the city today.
Visit Folkets Park during one of its many cultural events. Live music and theatrical performances take place on the Stora Scenen (Main Stage). Previous performers include ABBA and Frank Sinatra. Find many attractions geared toward children. Get close to exotic animals in the Terrarium. See snakes, crocodiles, monkeys and parrots. Stroke rabbits, guinea pigs and sheep, and take pony rides at the mini-farm. In the south end of the park is a large wading pool, which is free to use and ideal on hot summer days. From November to February, the pool becomes an ice skating rink. Play a round of mini-golf or ride bumpers cars and a mini roller coaster at the amusement park.
Bring a picnic and relax on the lawn in front of the main stage or make use of the free barbecue grills located opposite the wading pool. Buy fast food such as hot dogs, hamburgers and fries from the park’s collection of eateries.
The park is located south of Malmo’s city center, a 25-minute walk from Stortorget. There is no onsite parking but public buses stop at Amiralsgatan and Bergsgatan nearby.
