Sprinkled with picturesque alpine towns and encircled by the dramatic peaks of the Dolomites, this lush green valley is a dream location for outdoorsy travelers.

Discover a relatively undeveloped slice of Northern Italy’s raw natural beauty here in the Fiemme Valley. Explore an alpine landscape filled with scenic towns, tall spruce forests and wide green meadows. Towering over it all are the peaks of the Dolomites. Come in the snowy months to enjoy great winter sports or in the summer to go hiking, horseback riding or biking.

Hop between the valley’s 18 little towns to experience a wide range of activities. Start at Cavalese, the valley’s principal town and major skiing resort. Ride the cable car up to the Val di Fiemme-Obereggen skiing area or explore the historic attractions of the town itself. Take a guided tour of the lavish Palazzo della Magnifica Comunità di Fiemme, a former royal residence, and admire the Gothic architecture of the parish church.

In Predazzo hike through the beautiful Paneveggio-Pale di San Martino Nature Park and stop at the Dolomites Geological Museum to learn about the mountain range’s fascinating history.

Other towns offer something completely different. In Tesero, take advantage of the clear skies and lack of light pollution by watching the stars from the Val Fiemme Astronomical Observatory or see carefully constructed Nativity scenes at the Tesero e i suoi Presepi.

Join the crowds of sports fans who come to the Fiemme Valley every January to witness the Marcialonga. This spectacular event is Italy’s best-known cross-country skiing competition. Watch skilled competitors fly through the valley as they race to complete the marathon.

Come to the Fiemme Valley in winter and use airport transfers offered at a range of airports, including Verona, Bergamo, Treviso and Venice. Train connections are excellent in this part of Italy however, having access to a rental car can be useful for getting between the towns.
