Experience alpine beauty, scenic skiing and family-friendly entertainment at Falls Creek, one of Victoria’s premier ski resorts. Whether trying out tricks at the terrain park, hiking picturesque trails or watching night-time firework displays, you’ll find activities to suit your interests at Falls Creek.
Strap on skis or a snowboard and explore Falls Creek’s scenic slopes. With 92 runs over 1,100 acres (450 hectares) of skiable terrain, Falls Creek is Victoria’s largest ski resort. Ease into the skiing experience with a cruise down Wombat’s Ramble, Australia’s longest green trail. Return to Wombat’s Ramble on Wednesday and Saturday evenings for night skiing under spotlights.
Try more challenging runs through Falls Creek’s backcountry. Tackle the tricky terrain and steep powder of the Maze, one of the resort’s black diamond trails. Head to the terrain parks to practice freestyle skiing or snowboarding on a range of jumps, rails and boxes fit for varied skill levels.
See the beautiful alpine landscape around Mount McKay on a snowshoe trek, snowmobile tour or cross-country ski trip. Trails begin from the Nordic Center at Windy Corner, which has a parking lot.
Take the kids to the Village Bowl and watch them build snowmen, jump on trampolines or slide on toboggans at the Snowplay Park. Nearby, try an exhilarating downhill ride in a rubber doughnut at the Snow Tubing park. Stay at the Village Bowl on Thursday evenings to watch the action-packed night show. See skiing and snowboarding performances, meet Pete the Snow Dragon and marvel at a fireworks display set to music.
In the summer the activities continue. Try one of the new mountain bike trails or hike to the summit of Mount McKay, Australia’s highest drivable point. Visit the historical huts, practice your swing at the Falls Creek tennis courts, trail run along the aqueduct, road cycle the infamous Peaks Challenge loop or fish around the Rocky Valley Lake.
Travel to Falls Creek via bus or car from Melbourne. The trip takes about 5 hours. Use the on-site parking. The peak skiing season is July through September. Buy lift passes from the visitor center, near the Falls Express Chairlift.
