This mid-1800s property is charming to the extreme. Many of the furnishings are surely original, and beautifully maintained. Off-season it was nearly empty, but the proprietor made sure everything was smooth.

This is a very rustic property. If you enjoy antiques and the wonderful original architectural details of the past, this is a great choice. The rooms are austere. I enjoyed the original shutters, tiles and iron fixtures. Very nice common areas. The location is very rural, so great for a quiet getaway. Due to the economic situation caused by the pandemic, the restaurant is now closed. We were under the impression that this property was a winery. It is not. It was at one time, but only lodging is available. The poolside area has solid internet and the gardens are lovely. The mattresses are extremely firm. This property is an affordable option and you can use it as a base while exploring the countryside, some hiking and some wineries. Bring your own soaps and shampoos as the bathroom amenities leave much to be desired. Overall satisfied with our stay, but we do prefer a bit more luxury. Still, would come back.

Country house hotel near Estremoz

Posted 23 Jul 2019 on Hotels
Prettily decorated country house hotel. Historic “auberge” style. Attentive service. Lovely swimming pool set in pleasant grounds. Nicely decorated dining room and good breakfast. Hotel is in Arcos a small village close to Estremoz.

Super, privately owned, very old (circa 1863) Casa Rural. Staff & owner bent over backwards to provide a fantastic stay. You have to pre-order your evening meal about 1800 hrs, but it was worth it (regional cooking at its best & very economical). There isn't much in the immediate area to choose from, so you are much off a captured audience, but we were not disappointed by the restaurant, bar, hotel or its facilities. Car parking was adequate, but there is ample off street parking near-by in this sleepy Portuguese village. Highly recommended for a very pleasant, economical, friendly overnight (or longer) stop.

Beautiful house totally renovated. My kids had fun at the pool. Good restaurants around, just 10 mins from here. A very peaceful place. I recommend it.

A lovely place. The room itself is nothing special compared to other hotels. We had chosen the romantic option. The romantic aspect turned out to be a bottle of spumante and strawberries. The room itself was very basic which is a disappointment when you have chosen this option. The wifi was to weak to work in the room - impossible to connect. The satellite TV has only basic channels, and the TV is tiny. The hotel is a very nice place (a former quinta (small farm)), with lot of common space and facilities available. People are very friendly and helpful.

Nice hotel, close to Estremoz in quite village

Posted 28 Apr 2017
Pros: Ambience, gardens, food.
Cons: Drains smelled a little when we first arrived, but running shower and toiled seemed to cure problem.
Location: Estremoz, and Evora are walled towns with lots of history, as are many of local hilltop towns.
Lovely old building, with fascinating Bodega on ground floor. Lovely gardens and swimming pool. Quiet area with secure parking in hotel grounds. Friendly, helpful staff. Excellent food at breakfast and in hotel restaurant for dinner. If you have a car, you can reach Estremoz, Evora and other towns in the district easily. Fascinating marble mines nearby, outside Estremoz. Countryside very pretty in region in springtime.

Clean, quiet, and comfortable

Lovely and well-maintained hotel with friendly staff and a gorgeous and relaxing pool area. Perfect for a quiet get-away. Small town around but very close to both Estremoz and Borba.
