Esquirol Place, with its rectangular form and Haussmann architecture, is one of the main squares in Toulouse. The plaza has a rich history, formerly housing a 13th-century church and a covered market. Take photos of the medieval houses surrounding this charming plaza.

Enjoy French cuisine at one of the restaurants that have tables and chairs arranged on the square. Sip a hot drink at a café and watch people go by. As a central crossroads and public transportation hub, the space has a lively and buzzing ambiance. Browse the souvenirs and other items on display in the shops and boutiques.

Stroll leisurely along the quaint alleys and large roads that branch off from the plaza. Admire the majestic Haussmann design of the 19th-century houses that line the streets.

Consider the history of the Esquirol Place, once an important Roman hub of politics. Roman roads once intertwined with a Forum and Capitolium in this public space. The name of the square comes from Jean-Étienne Esquirol, considered one of the fathers of psychology in France.

Explore the area around Esquirol Place. Rent a bike from the public rental system and cycle along the designated lanes in the town center. A few blocks south of Esquirol Place is Trinity Place, a quaint triangular space with charming cafés and a central fountain. Enjoy snacks and refreshments from a terrace and admire the 19th-century architecture in this pedestrianized spot.

Other attractions in the area include the David Léger Sculpture Studio, Augustins Museum and the Museum of Old Toulouse.

Esquirol Place is in its namesake district in the center of Toulouse. It is four blocks east of the Garonne River and a short walk south from the Capitole de Toulouse. Ride the metro to the Esquirol station, which is in the southwestern corner of the plaza. You can also drive here and leave your car in the underground parking lot.
